Excellent stereo, decent power, so-so styling, but a nice ride and no hassles.

Great old boat; I had a '68 Imperial Crown 4-dr hardtop that was a concert-goers dream; 80+mph on the NYS Thruway was like sittin' in your living room.

1981 300 SD Merc. No one knows acceleration till you hammer down a 5-inline diesel engine. 322K miles on it, and it runs great, just have to make it look pretty now.

Mine was a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Couple....Big and brown. My dad gave it traded it for changing the timing gears and chain on his olds toronado. First I thought it had a 350 olds engine in it but it turned out to be a 403. I had to put a new carb on it due to the original computer controlled quadrajet was shot. I put a squarebore carb but to get it to fit I had to weld the egr valve shut and grind it off. After I got it running damn was it fast. I could out race IROC's. But it handled like shit though.

In 2000 when I got my license I bought a 1997 Volvo V40. I needed a good practical car. Good choice in the end.

Although on the 4th of August 2002 I took delivery of my (then) brandnew BMW 5 series and it is an amazing car.

Mine was a Monteverdi converted Range Rover, he made the 4 doors before range rover did. Mine was like the one in this link, but in black with double lamps and light grills. Beautiful looking car but it would eat gearboxes.

I bought my first car in grade 12... it was an 84 Cavalier. Sold it so I could eat when I went to University.

The family car at the time was a Datsun 280zx. I borrowed the car a lot.

Too bad the body couldn't keep up with the engine!

a 1988 Ford Taurus. It had vinyl seats and not A/C in hot ass West Texas. The fuel gauge didnt work so i ran out of gas on more than one occasion (till i figured out how many miles it would last on a tank). And it leaked powersteering fluid like nothing.

But it was the wheels that got me thought HS and we had many a good time in it

I was fifteen. Not legally old enough, but, I paid fifteen dollars for a '61 Corvair. It had two crome wheels, a tape deck (that is an 8 track for you younger folks) and, well, that was it. That was 1972. I got it stuck in a ditch. Left it there, just walked away.

Got it in 1983. Looked like this, only all white with red interior and sun roof. Not very fast, but still lots of fun. Until I wrapped it around a light pole.

In all honesty its actually in amazing condition.. run some wax over it and clean it out a bit and it's almost right off the showroom. And you can't beat the price; $300.

I beat you. In 1986 I inherited from my mom a 1977 Chevette. I believe it was the first model year they came out. We got it because she liked the slogan. "Chevy Chevette, it'll drive you happy." I couldn't kill that thing (I tried), we sold it to a guy my dad knew in 1990 and it was still on the road in 1995. I got my first speeding ticket in that car, 81 in a 55.

If your buddy wants to have some real fun, tell him to locate a 400 Cu. In small-block w/ 4-bolt mains; you build that bad boy, and it'll wax a 454.
