Clearbra/ 3M film worth it?
Does anyone have any experience with a clear plastic coating on often chipped areas of the vehicle? There is a 3M 'name brand' version and has various other names, such as clear-bra.
The intent is a clear, near invisible layer of protection on your front bumper, the front portion of the hood, etc. From cursory web searches it seems like a must-have add on for sport/performance cars. I summarily dismissed the add-ons that the dealer tried to sell me when I recently bought a Lancer, but I was just told that the car won't be ready tomorrow as promised, but they will let me get the 3M film at dealer cost ($427 Canadian). On one hand, I have no experience or knowledge about it, no do any of my immediate friends. On the other hand, we actually have 4 hard seasons here and the car has a low nose profile, and it seems about 80% of random internet car forum goers approve if they have heard of it. |

It's funny because I wish I got it. Unless you clean your car often, and if you drive long distances, Get it. The bra would keep the front of your car from suffering from bug juices eating through the paint, and rocks from chipping the bumper.
If you want, look in to headlight covers too, my headlights are all fogged up now from grime, and I wish i had covered them w/ some 3m tape. |
