Anyone Have Experience with a 94 530i?
Sorry, im fairly new here and havent been around in a while, but stumbled across this forum in my favorites and rememebred how mcuh i loved reading threads here.
So i might be coming into a 1994 530i. Can anyone give feedback of their experience with this car? it has 200k on the odo, the engine was replaced at 100k for the Nikasil recall thing. I have heard nothing but stunning reviews of this car, even with high mileage. Also, anyone have experience in the snow with it? I have heard positive things about this area of driving in it too. Thanks in advance. |

I don't have experience with the 530 series, but rally race a 1990 330i. Is that 530 using a 3.0 inline 6, or a 3.0 V8 engine? I personally love the 3.0 inline 6. This is rear wheel drive right? My experience with ANY rear-wheel drive vehicle in snow is put the best snow tires you can on it in the winter, and drive extremely slow, or expect to be putting the rear-end into plenty of curbs if you tap the gas too hard.
If you are looking for something for snow driving, I'd look elsewhere. If the snow driving will be limited, and the roads will mostly be clear in your area most of the year, or you are looking for a second car this would be a fun one (just keep a savings for repair expenses). Oh, and engine replacement or no. I avoid vehicles with that much mileage anymore unless I have enough money saved up to entirely replace suspension and transmission (just in case). |

thanks for the feedback kurt it has the 3.0 8 and is RWD. I agree about RWD in snow, my jeep cherokee cant move in snow unless in 4WD, but reviews seem to say it can hold its own ok in snow. I dont really drive much in snow anyways, but id hate to be stuck in it either. Most have stated the repairs are minimal, but who knows whit ht emileage, i might need to do a few things.
