What was the car buried in, a lake of sulfur?
That is certainly a lot of rust, makes it almost indistinguishable...

looks like it was a nice car at one time, too bad some douchebag decided to bury it and ruin it.

World's King has it close to right. It was done by the City of Tulsa, but it was to commemorate the 50th and 100th Anniversary of Statehood for the State of Oklahoma. Tulsa is quite a bit older.
Learn more about Tulsa here.

Interesting. I caught this before they dug it up. Seems to me that they actually took some precautions before burying it. I'm surprised (well, not really) that it came out in such poor shape.
So much for being collectible....

The time capsule made it out in good shape. The car not so much. Tulsa is not too far from me, and if I had the time, I would have gone to see this. I would have been disappointed though.
It was a shame this didn't pan out as they had wished 50 years ago.

Whoever did that to that poor car should be tied up, tarred, feathered and put in the town square for a week. By then I should be able to get there with a trunk load of steaming rotten tomatoes soaked in fecal matter.

The shelter the car was in was designed to withstand a nuclear attack. Water leakage, however, was a different matter. Shame, would've been a nice car.

Is is just me...? I'm thinking that if the shelter leaks water, it wouldn't be much protection from nuclear radiation.
