http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/2...solsticjk2.jpg http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/9...solsticwl0.jpg I came across this and thought this car is extremely sexy, what fun on a hot summer day! A big Vette V8, it must fly! What do you all think of this body kit? Story below... http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...bull_widebody/ No, this isn't an Ed Roth sketch of what a Solstice might look like on acid. It's a real-life widebody kit made by Mallett, the crazy folks who managed to squeeze a Corvette V-8 under the Solstice's tiny hood. Called the Pitbull Edition, this six-piece kit widens the car by four inches in the front and five inches in the rear. A wider body means room for wider tires, and we can't say that's a bad idea, considering that Mallett will ram a 7.0-liter Z06 engine under the hood for the right price. Made out of fiberglass, the whole kit will cost $16,000-18,000 after paint and installation. By special order only, Mallett will mold the body panels out of carbon fiber instead of glass. Look for Mallett to officially debut the Pitbull Edition at the 2007 SEMA show in Las Vegas. |
My opinion: they are modding this car into what it should have been from the start. Me beating the tar out of this car 0-60 in my turbo Neon is unacceptable, for how much it costs. Fashion symbol.

I dunno about that. The Soltice GXP is a formidable machine. They are relatively quick, and handle quite well.

The factory options make a cute car but I would never buy it that way. The Mallett build makes it a little monster. I agree with the idea that even a relatively stock LS motor makes that car into what it should have been from the factory, as an option of course, for those who want the V8 and beefed up drivetrain to go with it. I enjoyed the Hot Rod magazine build-up of an LS7 Solstice. The local speed shop has some Friday night meets, and there are already a couple V8 Solstice's that show up. I'm waiting to see one at one of my track days to see how it does. I went to Pocono this Saturday and not even one Solstice of any kind.

Looks like a lotus.

It looks like Pontiac's take on an old Cobra. I like it.
|
i like it, like everyone else I would have liked pontiac to have a V8 option in the first place. love to see some vids and official performance numbers.
|
GM would never put it under production, so we all are forced to buy the kit. but not bad if you have the cash to drop into it!
|
Gotta love the domestic tuner philosophy. All comes down, "You know I bet I can fit a V8 in there."
|
Oh I want one of those so badly..Nothing like 400 to 505hp in such a light car :D

Redjake, "beating the tar out of this car 0-60 in my turbo Neon is unacceptable, for how much it costs." Yea, but if you could afford it, it's much more a chick magnet and extremely more unique than a Corvette, imo. |
I've driven a stock one of those before (my aunt's). Little bastard will get up and go, can only imagine what it'll do with a V8.
Too bad the car's not made for someone of my dimensions. I'm about 6'2", all legs. My knees hit the steering wheel with the seat all the way back. |

Just messing with you. Ive driven a few of these cars and they are the real deal as far as handling. And 177 hp in such a light car does make them pretty quick. They are more European sports car than American muscle car. |
