It rules! I'm out and about all the time on mine! I ride an average of 10 miles a day, but wish it was more. I am doing the MS-150 in june,which will rule as well.

I ride a Fixed gear I built from an old Schwinn World frame and plan on riding Fixed for life! It rules too!

Doing the MS 150 on a fixie sounds pretty bold! But then again you fixed gear guys have always been a different bunch. :)
I ride a lot, since I have worked at a bike shop part time over the last few years. I have a custom titanium hardtail cross-country mountain bike with some pretty nice components, and I have a Specialized Big Hit III downhill bike for hitting the slopes and jumping off big stuff, and I have a Trek 2300 carbon road bike with Ultegra components. And I have a few crappier mountain bikes hanging about for other people to borrow etc.
As an aside, is this the place for cycling talk, I mean they don't have any motors? [shrug]

I definitely enjoy riding. In my town there is a network of trails that never get old.

Tilted Motors? Maybe move to Tilted Living?

Anyway, back to topic. I am a long-time cyclist, though I've been riding embarrasingly little in the last year or so. House remodeling takes most of my free time.

I ride a Ironhorse Hollowpoint offroad and a custom, steel-is-real, Zinn on the road. I second the early post about the questionable mental state of anyone undertaking a MS150 on a fixed-gear. That is just crazy! I guess it would be doable in a mostly flat state or for a shorter distance. I just can't imagine it.

Now that the weather is rebounding toward pleasant here, it is definitely time to get myself back onto my beloved bikes. I miss the feeling. Thanks for the inspiration to get out and ride again!

I have a Cannondale T800 for road-cycling, errands and someday I'll use it again for long-distance cycling (it or something like it will be my retirement vehicle rather than an RV).

I also have an old Specialized Stumpjumper as my mountain bike, it's too tall, and I don't mountain bike much anymore because of it. I love mountain biking, but have put too much into the T800 for long-distance and don't have money for a mountain bike at the moment. When I do get a new mountain bike I will change tear this bike down, swap it to a single gear, paint it lime green and throw some black fenders on it and make it into a bar bike.

I have a Haro... forget the model, solid BMX/Freestyle bike. It's my funtime bike when I want to drop staircases, or am in no rush at all to get anywhere. I could see my future child digging up my backyard to build jumps for this bike like my neighbor's children have done.

I cast my vote for Health & Fitness for this topic.

Hell yeah I'm crazy! I just got some Specialized shoes and Egg beaters, and I rocked a bus on a downhill on the way to work today. Also, I'M THE MOTOR!! haha

I have a road bike, a Giant tcrx. Pretty nice bike, I bought it as a recovery tool after I blew my knee. But it hasn't been used in two years. I scare myself at the speeds I always get up to on smooth roads.

I have a cross country hardtail, a Kona Cinder Cone. A little heavier than I would like, but it gets used the most. Edmonton isn't a great biking town, but there are enough ravines + the river valley to keep me moderately entertained. At least I pedal it around.

And I have a Demo8. Insane downhill bike. My best friend is a fanatic, has some partial sponsorship and regularly gives me his hand-me-down components. He spends most the summer around Fernie, some Alberta Rockies, and out in Whistler. I usually tag along for a week. I still have far too much self-preservation instinct to be decent, but I have fun.

I have a friend who is serious into downhilling, and I would try to follow him on rides but found I was mostly getting off the bike and walking it down large steep sections, or when I would commit would end up in bushes or hugging trees. I decided to tone it down. He's still surprised at what I can drop on my BMX that he hesitates to do on his full suspension downhill bike. It's the damndest thing.

i have a motobecane super mirage road bike that i ride all over the place.
i dont keep track of the mileage because that would make riding seem like exercise and i'd rather trick myself into seeing it as transportation and pleasure.
in chicago there are no hills, so distances are abstract in any event.

there's a specialized hybrid in my basement that i still love but which i do not ride much these days.

Those Demos are awesome bikes! Like my bike's big brother. I am the same way about my sense of self preservation. It's wierd, i won't drop off of much over 8' or so, but I'll fly down the long windy downhill sections that are a little smoother, knowing full well that if I fuck up the next sound I hear will be the blades of the helicopter coming to get me. I am jealous you get to get out on the big bike a lot, mine makes an excellent decoration for my living room most of the time.

I used to ride cross country, then moved to jumping around the local woods on our homebuilt six packs. Now I build and ride homeade choppers in my spare time :). They are so easy and fun to ride and having 6 foot long forks is a real head turner.

Tech, you're right about the pics, Tech--world of difference, thanks for sharing. is that a manitou black on that giant, it looks pretty long travel? I like those frames though, I built a similar one (fully geared) up for my buddy and sold it to him for a grand and it weighed under 25 pounds. That Pake is awesome too. I've never really liked the fixed thing, but that is a fun looking bike. If you ride that Giant a lot you should treat yourself to hydraulic brakes, they rule.

Since posting that, I've sold both. I sold the road bike about a week after this thread made me realize that I didn't use it, so I cleaned it up (removed a tonne of storage grease and oil, listed it on a board at the local bike shop and had someone willing to pay my asking price within 5 hours.

Now I had to bail out of a May-Long-Weekend bike trip due to work, but I lent my bike to a 4th who was going to join the normal three guys. He has fallen in love with the sport and phoned yesterday to make me an offer on the Demo that I couldn't refuse.

Sigh. I probably wouldn't have used either at all this summer, but both sales came with a bit of regret/sadness.

I have a Marin Fairfax on which I putz around the 'burbs and local parks. I think it's a pretty good bike in the "around $500" range.

This isn't my pic, but I have one of these too. It's a Straight 8 by Electra Bikes. Great fun for riding around the neighborhood. 3 speed internal hub. Only difference is mine has coaster brakes rather than the hand brake.

And then I most recently aquired this Bacchetta Cafe recumbent but after two weeks of riding it I broke my ankle and dislocated my shoulder during a group ride when the front wheel got caught in a gap in the road. Ouch.

Wow, miko! Beautiful bikes. My first choice of transportation in the city is by bike. It's just as fast or faster than driving and I don't have to worry about parking. I've had several flat-handlebar roadbikes. Nothing too fancy so that I'm not too worried about theft. I've had this Marin Mill Valley for the past 2 years:

I have my first real bmx an old 20" wheel cro moly main tune I need to put back together. I also need to put back together a 20" wheel GT Oerformer I rescued from the back of a house I was mowing. The bike I wish I had back Ibis 26" wheel Tandem 19"/17" black with splatter paint, miss that bike.

is cycling supposed to be in tilted motors? that said, i have a bianchi road bike, a surly steamroller fixed gear, a voodoo mountain bike, and a spot singlespeed mountain bike. i usually commute (7.5 miles one way) on the fixed, i ride the mountain bikes on the local trails, and the bianchi on longer road rides (30 or more miles). cycling rocks. way better than paying $3 a gallon of gas to be pissed off by crappy drivers (i'm probably one of the crappy drivers pissing others off, so it all works out, karmically)
