I like it! I always preferred the style of European Fords. I would have liked to see some larger engines though.

Bond's real car is the new Aston Martin, and according to Business Weekly Ulrich Bez is going to be taking the driving seat of Aston Martin, as Ford is selling the supercar manufacturer.

Still, Ford is doing good things in Europe. Why can't they have cars like that here?

But...it looks like a station wagon! Bond driving a station wagon? I don't think so. ;-)

Not that it isn't a good looking car....but...

If you feel dissapointed, go watch Sean Connery drive a DB5 in Goldfinger. It'll make you feel better. Trust me.

This is the station wagon equivalent. There will be a 4 door saloon and 5 door hatchback versions still to come.

But from what I have read Casino Royale, Bond will drive a Mondeo first before switching to the Aston.

I agree on the Mondeo and also wish Ford would sell them here. You have to wonder what white-line-marketing-think keeps the crap here and the vehicles like this over there.

As for inclusion in a Bond, no surprise. Ford sponsorship would be much greener than anything they'd get from exotics. We're lucky it isn't a Camry.

Bonds have always been commercial friendly, but IMO they've become way too heavy with product placement. Basically one long set of product spotlights interspersed with explosions and bits of dialog. Hell, even my young family like the old movies better.

It's not a "Station Waggon" - we don't have such things in Europe.

It's an Estate Car.

(Same thing, dfferent name).

The problem is, that Americans have really odd notions of Europe, and Britain in particular.

Lots of Americans seem to think that our cars are all tiny - for decades, any Amrican TV show doing a UK episode showed people driving in the original Mini, or a 2CV, or riding on a red bus; as if that is the only way to get about.

Our cars are pretty much the same size as yours (except for the tennis court sized silly pickup trucks and 4x4s).

They just have more style.

Seriously though, that model has ALL of the optional extras - I bet that they add 50% to the list price.

I'd drive it - it looks nice.

2.5l is a big engine in for Europe! It produces 225bhp/236lb ft. Is that not enough??!

This car reminds me of an old style mondeo i saw at work today, with a rear air diffuser, on a mondeo! The thing can barely go fast enough as it is, doesn't need a fraking air diffuser.

The car looks sweet, like a beefed up audi almost.

Hey, just found this. This is the hatchback version.... It looks very Volvo meets Audi like... Which isn't a bad thing...

that might be featured in the movie, but as said, the new "bond car" is the '07 DBS

It is, but I would like to see Ford offering cars in the Audi S4 range. People don't need this kind of performance, but it is an important market segment nontheless.

That size engine is usually either base line or 1 step up from baseline. With a 3.xL v-6 usually being the top of the line. Atleast thats how we do it in the US. On top of that gas just dropped to about $2.00/gallon around here. So small engines aren't "in style" at the moment.

How funny!! I thought America was waking up to "smaller" sized engines and cars. Arnold is getting rid of his Hummers, everyone drives Prius's, California is sueing 'the big six' car manufacturers. Even big trucks sales are slowing down and cars sales are picking up!

I do hope America can adopt the perception of owning smaller cars. I know there is a stigma for NOT owning a V8 or V6. Come to Europe. You get respect for owning a 1.8l 4 cylinder engine, and even more if it's a diesel!!

Over all, things are going towards being more fuel efficient... but I'd California is definetly not respresentive of the rest of the country. Atleast where I am in the south east, people are still happy driving around in SUVs and trucks... though not so much the deisel pick ups because deisel is still around $3.00/gallon.
