Lots of great Haiku here, there's a seperate term for poems that fit the 5-7-5 form, but don't use seasonal references, I just can't remember it right now. That being said here are a few of mine:
I'll just lay my head on a grassy pillow and watch the clouds pass (yeah the second line has 6 syllables, sometimes you have to sacrifice rules for beauty) Skeletons of trees give to the october wind Winter's coming soon If I told Basho how much I hated nature he'd kick my ass hard (Basho was the first haiku poet) |

blissful little featherbrains how i envy them *** what dark hole is this that eats light and belches tears give us back our joy *** tangled green branches twined like lovers' raptured limbs it is not fall yet *** Strawberries and cream? Yesterday grief, tomorrow grief. Enjoy today.

I'd post mine here, but I'd rather just post them in my literature thread "One Night" along with everything else I write.
I have a thing for haikus as well. When I write one, it takes me hours to work it out to where it has the right words, sounds, and meaning.

I've got my own thread of haiku, but I figured a community effort might be appreciated...

Opening old thread
Haiku I cannot resist Is this called a bump? I found a series of haiku I wrote last year I thought I would share. When I get upset With myself for being late Love brings me ice cream Nick is drunk again Tonight he hugs a bucket Leaves for Europe soon Escape from prison Only for a little while But god, it’s worth it And Pink Floyd had screamed “The worms ate into his brain” As the wall fell down Threw the sky away I didn’t wish to see it Now I miss the sun Clock ticks overhead Pen taps against blank pages Another test failed She dances with stars A nebulaic dancer That will not come down graceful faeries dannce upon waterlily beds a moonlit ballroom Inside Joke giant spiders prey on little girls drinking tea mongoose saves the day Bacardi Breezers It only takes two For me to tell a stranger How I look naked. |
