Thaw

Raise the whip
as i wish to feel
something
beyond this enduring numbness

The sting it brings
and the heat that follows
are all that can melt
these layers of frost

At last in pain
i can feel
alive
not dead with heartache

So raise it higher
and let it crack
through the cold
burning out my sorrow.
