What do you think?
I am currently in the process of writting a Science Fiction Novel about the future with aliens and what not. I have been working on it for about 2-3 years now and when I started I knew it would take me a long time to finish. I currently have, what I believe to be, an extensive background of the future(interesting idea). I have not started to write the actual story yet. I have an idea of what it will be about. I am trying to have it done in 5 years. I wanted to eventually turn the book into a movie. From the ideas I have for my book I am worried that it might be excedingly long. I had the idea of telling the story from a person who is living after the book story takes place but having found a book that basically predicted the future of what happened. The premise is sort of a combination of Titan A.E alien ideology, the Mars Trilogy science ideas, and my own personal morals and beliefs for the future. I am trying to make it as extensive as possible so I can get all the angles covered.
Here is my idea for the book: The human race after dealing with corruption, death, war, and poverty for long time have created a way to integrate every person's mind with everyone elses while still keeping individuality. Humanity has unlocked the full use of the brain. At a certain age the mind is put into a collective machine that helps control a group of things on Earth, other planets, ships and other things in space. In a way no one ever dies, they are still around playing a vital role in human existance. Humans have met 26 different alien species, 4 are Allies, 10(or so) don't want anything to do with us, the rest are allied against us and want to destroy us. I haven't decided if I want humanity to win because the "bad guy" victory has a certain appeal to it. That is my idea, tell me what you think. If you want to know more let me know what you want to know and I will tell you. I think I was also going to ask for help with something but I have forgotten so if I think of it later I will post it. If there is somewhere else this should be, feel free to move it. Thanks for your input. |

From my personal experience, while I have not written novels, I've found that once I start writing, the story/work tends to take on a life of its own. I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as feedback, but if you feel you've got enough of a passion in this idea to spend the time fleshing it out through writing, then go for it. If it does not work out for you, it is not a lost experience. You will have grown as a writer in the process.
And By the way, welcome to the Literature Forum! I also hail from the warmer parts of Arizona... you'll find a good home here.
