Mariah's Mermaid
Once the was a girl named Mariah that loved to go to the ocean. She
loved to walk along the beach with her mommy and feel the sand through her toes. She would always ask her mommy when they could go again because it always meant that she could sit in the sand and listen to the waves. She loved to sit and hear her mommy tell her about the mermaids. She hoped that one day she would meet one. Her mommy told her they would go again someday, but it might be a while because they lived so far away. Well it just so happened that one night right before Mariah was going to bed that night that her mommy and her had just seen a program on T.V. that talked about the ocean. Mariah was very excited about it, and thought about it all the time before she got into bed. She asked her mommy again about going, and told her that one day she was going to meet a mermaid. Her mommy smiled and told her that she was sure she would. Mariah smiled, and closed her eyes and fell asleep. That night, Mariah started to dream that she was at the ocean. She was laying on the beach, and her mommy was laying next to her. It was starting to get dark, and they were looking at the moon together. All of a sudden a big wave crashed unto the beach and soaked them both. They started laughing because it felt so good at the same time it had startled them. The Mariah heard a soft voice calling out "help me please". She thought she was Imagining it and then she heard it again. She looked toward the voice, and she could see something moving a ways down the beach. She grabbed hold of her mommy and asked her to go with her to help. They walked down the beach a bit, and they started to make out a womans shape. They walked really slow, cause they were both a little scared. They got closer and they realized it was a mermaid. She was the most beautiful woman Mariah had ever seen next to her mommy, and she couldn't believe she was actually going to get to meet a mermaid. She was so excited she did'nt know what to do. When they stopped next to her, she said again"please help me", and Mariah asked what they could do. The mermaid said, My name is princess Lilly. I was swimming close to the top, because I do that a lot when there is a full moon. Suddenly a big wave caught me and threw me here on the beach. If you will help me I would be so thankful. Mariah asked what they could do. All you have to do is both of you need to hold onto my hands, and we all will close our eyes and believe. Mariah got on one side, and her mommy on the other, and held her hands and closed there eyes. Princess Lilly Moaned, and said thank you ladies, you can open your eyes now. They did, and Mariah could'nt believe it ! Princess lilly Had legs! Mariah asked "what happened". Princess Lilly said, let me explain. My home is at the bottom of the ocean, and it is a very beautiful place. I love it there. When I was little, my Grandma told me of your world. She told me that mermaids could become real people with legs and everything, but if we were to keep our legs longer than 12 hours, we would never get our fins back. Whenever we get onto land, if we have 2 people that believe, we will get temporary legs. When we get back into the water our fins come back. I was'nt planning on coming onto land tonite, it was an accident. I can't stay to long, my family will get worried. Mariah started wishing Prncess Lilly could stay longer, but she understood that she wanted to get back to her family. Mariah asked if she could saty a bit longer, and Princess Lilly said she had better be going. She asked Mariah If she would like to go on a quick ride though, before she went home. Mariah said" can I mommy please? Mariah's mommy said sure. Mariah put her arms around Princess Lillys shoulders, and she walked into the water. As they got up to about shoulder deep water, Mariah could see that Princess Lillys fin had come back. Princess Lilly told her to hold on, and she started swimming really fast. She went under the water, then up on top. She swam out a bit, then started back toward shore. Mariah had never had so much fun.She told Mariah that she had better go, and she took her up close to the beach. Mariah got off her back, and Princess Lilly stopped her before she left. Wait mariah, I have something to give you. Princess Lilly Took one of the Beautiful rings off her finger and handed it to Mariah. Please take this as a token of my thanks. Mariah asked her mommy if it was ok, and her mommy said yes. Mariah thanked Princess Lilly And walked to the shore. She stood there with her mommy and waved as Princess Lilly waved back as she swam away. All of a sudden she went under the water, and they did'nt see her again.They stood there for a while looking at the moon reflecting off the water, then mommy said we better go, and Mariah waved at the ocean one more time, and they went home. The next morning Mariah woke up, and jumped up to go tell her mommy about her dream. She ran into the kitchen where her mommy was making toast, and started telling her about Princes Lilly and the ocean and everything. She was talking and smiling and laughing, and when she got through with the story, her mommy said that that was a pretty neat dream you had. Now will you run and get dressed for school? You will be able to tell your friends about this. I am glad you got to meet Princess Lilly. Maraih said sure, I will go and get ready. I love you mommy. Mariah's mommy said I love you to baby, now run, and oh by the way Mariah, Please leave that ring here, you can't take it to school ok? Mariah looked down at her finger and could'nt believe her eyes.... Ok mommy, She said
