Disappointment flies on swift wings
to settle upon my shoulders like a cloak.
I wrap it tight upon me
for the ache is too great to bear alone,
yet it can never be spoken.
It screams from inside of me and echos through
the empty corridors of my heart.
Love is buried there,
silenced yet craving to cry out.
Yearning to share and to heal,
to laugh and love again.

Thank you all for your comments. I do NOT consider myself a writer by any means at all, sometimes things just come out. It's a therapy thing I guess for all the crap inside of me that I can't let out.

Emotions are never crap this is true. It's more along the lines of being afraid to let it out rather than not able to. And there is such amazing talent in here it's intimidating at times!

Time

Even though today's agony
rips our soul apart,
endless time, always healing
mends our broken heart.

Although we cry in solitude
behind the walls we made,
time slowly erases hurt
as days go on to fade.

Although we feel so empty
and only wish to die,
we do forget our troubles
as time continues by.

Wrote this for a friend a very long time ago....now I find myself having to read it in order to remind me of the fact that time heals all wounds.

Once There Was a Dragon

Once there was a dragon
sitting by the shore.
Waiting for a friend to come
and hoping there'd be more.

Once there was a mermaid
floating in the sea.
Wishing for a friend to have
not knowing it was me.

Once there was a fairie queen
flying through the sky.
She was very lonely for
her king had not come by.

Once there was a falling star
who crashed down to the ground,
until I came and picked him up
and then we danced around.

I comforted the fairie queen
until her king came home.
She was so very happy
she no longer was alone.

I swam up to the mermaid
and asked if we could play.
We frolicked among the waves
as night turned into day.

And then I found the dragon
so sad down by the shore.
I kissed him and I promised
we'd be friends for evermore.

One more for my little boy.

This is along the lines of "Once There Was a Dragon".....he used to ask for original bedtime stories and a few I jotted down...this is one of the few.....

Once There Lived a Prince

Once there lived a prince
In a forest dark and old,
Who was friend to all the beasts
and whose story must be told.

In a castle made of gold
Lived the prince so young and fair,
With his faithful magic dragon
The two made quite a pair.

They would play throughout the day
Through the forest they would run,
Laughing loud and singing out
Through the rain, the snow or sun.

Swimming with the dolphins and
Playing in the waves
Is how they'd spend their days
After exploring all the caves.

Chasing falling stars and
Comets through the sky
Was their nightly game to play
As through the skies they'd fly.

Picnics on a blanket in a meadow
Green and gold,
Theirs is a story that
Never shall grow old.

Wow, great stuff Minx. You manage to have writing with such raw emotion. Full of much longing and sorrow... but then you added such great childrens' rhymes in a completely different style. You're definitely a writer (just not a professional, yet :-)

Get about 10-15 of those rhymes together with some illustrations and you've got a great bedtime book!

maximus....I felt the very same way when I first posted here. The only suggestion I can give you is to take a deep breath and go ahead and post some of your work. Everyone here is very good with constructive points and you'll find it will give you to courage to keep going. You will get a lot of support so please don't be afraid to share a little of yourself with us.
