What do you all think?
I have been lurking and occasionally posting in Literature, because of the quality of work I see here. It is....somewhat quiet on this board and could possibly use a bit of livening up.
I would like to propose an addition to this forum, in the form of a contest/ competition of sorts. If the idea is unappealing, then please be honest and say so. listed are a couple ideas for breathing new life into this haven of intellect. Any Ideas would be of great help.

I voted something weekly, but maybe not so much in the form of a contest as instead more an inspiration for people? When the add a line to the story was pretty new, that got quite a bit of responses. Maybe doing a challenge with different poetry styles, short stories that incorportate a clippet found from somewhere. Anyone else have any ideas?

I would certainly participate in a weekly themed challenge. Not a competitive one, so much as a forum mod comes up with a theme each week and the people on here respond. Maybe a sticky thread? People could PM the mod(s) who ran the challenge with ideas for the next week's thread.

Anyone else, with suggestions?
If not I will start a weekly on Monday....if there are no objections.

This is a great idea. As a writer, you can never write too much- and exercises like these are exactly what is needed sometimes. Good idea! I will participate regularly.
Oh- and I don't think this should be any kind of competition, that is not what this forum is about. Do it to share of yourself, and to share in others. |

I used to play a bar game (well I made it a bar/casino where ever I needed money game) where one person would come up with a word and out of that one word the others would write a 2-4 stanza poem. Each stanza contained a minimum of 4 lines. And most poems had to follow an ABAB, AABB, ABBA, style.
The poem would not only contain the word but that word would be the subject of the poem. The fastest, yet most well written poem then would win. As judged by the group and the one giving the word was final judge. I could write a poem as fast as I could physically write and that paid for a few casino nights. Funny when we are in an addiction what we will do for money.

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
