Early British Parodies

Ok this may sound stupid, but I had to write parodies of a few of the major early british poets for my Early British Lit class. They're supposed to be written in the style of each respective poet, and they're also supposed to discuss finals week at college. In any case, I decided to share them with you all!

Beowulf’s Poet

Swarmed with ‘signments, beaten by books
They sojourned on, ready for summer.
Fighting for freedom they held up their heads
The final said she, would be part spoken
Laughter and lightness filled up the room
They convened by computers assembling their answers
Wrote what’s required and nothing more
They learned their lessons and made their marks!

Chaucer

The room was barren, cold and lifeless
The students walked in, I could feel their high stress
They spoke, “how can she be so cruel?
Making us work hard outside of school?”
“quiet!” said the teacher, “you have it so well”
“now read John Milton or you’re going to hell!”
So they read and read, a semester through
And left without a simple ‘thank you’

Coming soon: the Bard, Milton and Samuel Johnson!

Insane

you should include a kenning for the beowulf poet - that's something like "whale-road" for ocean.

Either way, good work.

yeah I was thinking about using kenning, but I just didn't think it would flow.
