They said we did it for the future
To keep our country pure
They didn't heed the warnings from the past
Or know how long the war would last

People who disagreed were silenced while ones who preached hate drew fame
People who wanted love only were shown shame
Noone spoke out they were too busy and it had gotten all too personal the attacks
So the laws they passed fell through the cracks

The darkness fell but people had looked away
And it would take an eternity for the sun to light another day
So many reasons were given none proved to be just
It was saolely a case of greed and lust

So we sit here in the future they had promised to protect
And anyone speaking out is now suspect
The darkness has crept into every soul and heart
And instead of love we have a country torn apart

We pray now silently in the darkness to He who is above
That He show his light like a lighthouse to show us lost love
We pray an end to the madness that we have created
And the start of a new dawn where love shall never be berated

I just love people who use the excuse "I use/do this because I LOVE the feeling/joy/happiness it brings me" and expect you to be ok with that as you watch them destroy their life blindly following. My response is, "I like to put forks in an eletrical socket, just LOVE that feeling, can't ever get enough of it, so will you let me put this copper fork in that electric socket?"
