Colonial Slow

Hey, I've never posted any of my writing ever before, and I was just curious on opinions of this. I'm a pretty warm person usually, I was just really cold (literally and figuratively) when I wrote this, I guess. Thanks for reading!

-----------------------------------------------

Dark streets wheel on their sleet-covered sidewalks, while he watches a lamplight with hexagonal beams. Suddenly moving cars graze his shoulder, crunching crisp snowflakes, red orbs floating in the wake. It’s so cold that the shoulder is numb forever, returning in sudden pulses that shoot a painful warmth. Runs his gloved left hand through cold-shocked hair, under a stiff hood starting to soak the arctic. The slatted house on streetend, lights on, glow, but robbed of warmth, passed indifferent into the woods creeping on. The city was cold.

A creek sits at the decline’s end, trees pockmark the opposite slope, roots exposed, but offer no shelter, they hug the ground. Night hides the shadows of the bank and the crease. He stares at the shallow abyss, midnight black, shards of light glint off disturbance. He stares at the abyss. Lets gravity pull his hair towards the slope. Knee strikes the bank blunt. Temple strikes a flat wet rock, sick nerves channel it nowhere. Legs crumple into the creek. Ice water disintegrate the shoulder to stump. Darkness closes his eyes, sinks, sounds suddenly numbed to nothing. Waits. Cold water moves on. The night will never end. Surface colder than air or creek. Leaf hits the crown, spins off the defender, it remains unmoved, distant, still. The rivertrees, bare skeletons for winter, threaten to fall, loom, speak of Theseus. Post flutter in the night. Moan, subways scream. Weary passenger emerges into looming night. Homeless beard sleeps, jeans whipped by ice, buildings silent. Princes speak of moats. Dark snow pounds on. Creek from a distance.

Haha, no problem, I was kind of expecting that.
If it helps, there really isn't a "meaning" to it, as far as I can tell. It was more of a mood that I was trying to set, and less any problem or obstacle I was trying to raise. Is that an okay approach?

Thanks for reading it though, I really appreciate it!

Nice.

Sounds like you have a rich, vivid imagination.

Do you write very often?

Not especially often, though I'll do extremely short poems if I'm in the mood.

Thanks for the comments!
