Slipping away
 

As I hold her shaking form
I can feel her life drain from her small body
I feel as if my heart is breaking
I am losing her
But I can not stop her passage
This was a more human death
Our eyes lock
A look of pure terror in her eyes
I feel so helpless
I could have done so much more for her
But she is gone
No one can console me
For in my very hands she died
I could not stop it
Though I will with every drop of life in me
To instill it into her now limp form
And yet she simply slipped away

reminded me of the movie "Tears of the Sun." The movie made me cry at the end when I watched it last night. I did not cry while reading your work but felt the emotion of the "life slipping away."
