It didn’t matter that it was a warm autumn day. Two dogs playing in the yard… briskly fighting over a Frisbee –long since tossed. Orange kniphofia bloomed near the hedges and an apple tree swayed ever so slightly in the light breeze.

No, it didn’t matter that the clouds were drifting ever so slowly or that the gentle hum of a refrigerator reminded me that there were cold ones waiting for me when I got back. The porch was still –save for me in my blue suit.

The flowers waited in my hand. Does this girl want me to give her flowers? What if she gets the wrong idea?

This problem perplexed me. Girls often get the wrong idea from flowers. They think it’s too much of an overture. On might see the flower-giver as a old-fashioned romantic but then again –One might see the boy as a creep who uses flaky gifts to cover his social ineptitude.

There is so much finesse required when dealing with women. Men are so much simpler. I pondered this as I dropped the roses. After all, I just want to fuck her.
