A Distant Space, a Deep Place

Even at distance, I feel the heat coming off her in waves,
like the heat off of an over used gun barrel.

You can see the distortion in the air if you
look past her skin.

Emotional lava surges beneath the surface
always threatening to break through her crust.

The crust is still hot, too hot to dare walking on.
I pray the rains come soon, for her sake.

....time passes...

The rain, the blessed rain has come!
All praise to the herald of the rain!

It joins the mud flowing red down the slopes!
Its sound is the beating of raven's wings on the breeze!

Praise, Praise the Maker for the rain!

I wander hallways and rooms that are empty
I tread old pathways and see the shades that were

I turn to glimpse something fleeting and shadowy
I catch sight of another spectre of the past

I open a book and there is your scent
I search a box and you leap out again

I hear a cry in the night only to find that
I am the one crying, your voice is still

I beg you, haunt me no more.

Poltergeist

Words no longer heard, no longer remembered
Now fiber of my soul you fight,
Tangled into knots that I try to cut with more words.

Anger, also orphaned, now trying to drive my life from
its back seat, along with the pain and hurt,
while the driver cannot yet see over the wheel.

Liquor, the thief, the poltergeist that bedevils me, how could I
