Inspiration

I just wanted to know where you get your inspiration? I'm having the hardest time recently getting inspired by anything.

Personally, I am ashamed to say that most of my inspiration is usually an alcohol buzz though... lol. For some reason I write the best stuff when I'm a bit buzzed (not TOO drunk).

I have this one poetry book that gives you a few of one writer's poems and then at the end kind of gives you an assignment. That has really helped me to be inspired by other authors.
Also boredom inspires me to write.
Last summer Jill Scott and Def Poetry Jam is what got me scribbling in my notebook.

I hear a word and it brings a thought, or memory, and it flows from there

with the flesh exposed, the vampires of creativity feed, color flowing back to words....

i get phrases that sound cool, scribble them down and hopefully work on them later. late at night is my best time. Usually passion comes from the emotions that i have. how else can i create the imagery that are the pillars of my work?

Inspired by the mind's eye.

it depends on what I'm writing.

If I'm wirting poetry, I just write what I feel.

If I'm writing fiction, I let my mind slip into an imaginary world and observe all that goes on around me.

What is the book called and what is the author? I might get it if I can get it over here...

I really don t get inspired.
I just open up my chest and let it fall out
where ever the words fall they lay,
thats it.
I tried when I was younger to "write"
now i just say fuck it and plug in and flow.

when im out of breath i stop writing.

Inspiration can be a deadly thing, it so seldom sticks around in its true form.
but im just one person.

There are some people that are muses and others who look for them, and that works fine.

We are all different and inspiration comes in different forms.

thats why I love forums like this.

they just live and what comes from it is pure unadulturated fun!

sometimes sorrow is fun too!
lol

Poetry comes from the gut, the heart, it is an emotion.

Fiction on the other hand. Just pick up a mewspaper, or watch the news. The old saying "Life is stranger than fiction" is so true.

When I was younger and used to write a great deal, alcohol was frequently involved (especially in poetry). Often, just letting yourself go is difficult. Someone said adversity stimulates writing and I think we tend to dwell more on adversity when we drink.

Now, I try to make sure I jot down ideas or phrases that pop into my head so that I can return to them later. I keep them in a notebook and in a computer file so whichever medium I feel like using I can. I also have to force (hate to use that term, but it's true) myself to sit down every once and a while and write. I was a much better writer, when I wrote every day (at least a journal entry).

Poetry for me are the words your heart and soul want to cry out but cannot. It just comes from inside, no set pattern or style - the words quite literally just spill forth. At least that is the case for me. Find your inspiration wherever you wish to - it's your writing!

I used to open up and let the words flow through me. Or I'd have a phrase or a word that a poem would build itself around. I used to think that I really had something.
I don't know how adversity is supposed to help you, though. I went through the most difficult time in my life and came out of it with nothing. No muse, no words, nothing.
Now, if someone could tell me how to get that spark back, I'd love to know.
