I've only really blacked out twice. Both times ended up with me having crazy bad hangovers that lasted almost 24 hours. I've had a couple of "grey outs," where I wouldn't remember things on my own, but when someone told me about it, it'd come back.
Conversely, I know people that get blackout once a week and never have a hangover. Dunno.

I blacked out only once and it couldn't have happened at a worse place--a company/client party! It was a warm summer day and the drinks were free and top self. I remember having a sensational time dancing and talking smack with everyone there and then poof....nothing--no memory whatsoever. It was awful the next day at work when my work mates approached me with a big grin on their faces, shaking their heads, saying shit like "we had no idea.....etc, etc..." One guy finally told me I was freak dancing with one girl and kept grabbing for her boobs..great. I had a trip planned for London the next week and had every intention of buying a bottle of gin at the duty free shop before heading over the big pond. NOT. I thought how scary it would be to have a blackout while I was there; away from friends and familiar surroundings. It was a sobering experience (grin).
