How to stop sweating so damn much?

Every day when I wake up to go to work, I take a shower, put on some nic anti-perspirant/deodorant. I wait a few minutes to make sure everything's dry, then I dress. I wear slacks and a button down Oxford style shirt.

Then, about 45 minutes later, a few minutes after I get to work, I'm sweating like a pig. It's not hot in the store I work in, nor am I doing lots of labor, but I sweat nonetheless. And it's only from my armpits, nowhere else. To stop it, I have to put paper towels inside my shirt. From about noon on, I don't sweat at all, and everything's groovy, but before then I can't stop the flow.

Has anyone had similar experience? Any thoughts as to what I might be doing wrong? I've tried different deodorants and anti-perspirants, but they all do the same thing. Any advice? Anyone? Please?

Switch from anti-perspirant to plain deodorant. Don't go back. Some reaction from the pore blocking agents causes it.

I had the same problem in spades. I'd used anti-perspirants for 10-15yrs before it started. After switching, gradually, over a few weeks, the pit attacks went away and never returned.

Anti-perspirants are bad news and if you haven't tried just a plain old deodorant, I'd be quick to peg it on that.

Other than that, I'd say consult a physician.

It would be a good thing to see a Dr. I had the problem a few years ago when moving to FL and a new job. I eventually figured out is was stress related, even though I didn't feel stressed since so many things can cause different kinds of stress.

I purchased an over the counter product specifically for this and used in for about a month and things finally resolved themselves.

Good luck!

Hrm, I may have to try just the plain deodarant as a few people in this thread have mentioned... I don't really think I have as severe of a problem as MooseMan, but I do feel like I sweat more than other people. I don't think it's a severe enough problem to go see a doctor or anything, but if antipersperants can have the opposite of the desired effect, maybe that'll help. I'd never heard that before.

Good deal. Give it a few weeks.

I tried a doctor. Got the Drysol prescription. It didn't work as well as just laying off the Aluminum based anti-perspirants, and it didn't smell as good as OTC deodorants. In the end it seemed like trying to fix a bent nail with a bigger, more expensive hammer.

Well, Drysol is aluminum chloride.......

You are supposed to use it at night before you go to bed, and then wash it off in the shower the next morning. Then use deodarant/anti-perspirant as usual.
