Weakness in legs, and other problems...
Since my last stint in the hospital, I have had a complete checkup and a clean bill of health....
BUT I have noticed a weakness in my legs, feet sting after walking for a short time and go numb...depression...mood swings... and a loss of short term memory that is scaring the hell out of me... so. I turned it over to a "new doctor" GOOGLE. got a shock---a lot of people with the same problem, and it all relates to medicine for chloresteral...mine was Zocor. heard from many people with the same symptoms... have any of you found this in your lives...??? No I haven't.
Be clearer on the details: are you still on Zocor? Did it start after you started taking it? If you have stopped taking it and you still have those problems then you should really go to a doctor. According to http://www.drugs.com/Zocor/: What are the possible side effects of simvastatin [Zocor]? • Rare cases of muscle problems and liver problems have been associated with the use of simvastatin and other similar medicines. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by a fever or flulike symptoms or yellowing of the skin or eyes, abdominal pain, unexplained fatigue, dark colored urine or pale colored stools. These may be early symptoms of muscle or liver problems. Omega-3s will help with those things, but if they are caused by a drug then they can't fix them completely. Probably the best way to get omega-3 is fish oil... |

I know a guy in his '70s who's had numbness in his feet for some time -- he isn't on medication, that's just the way it's been. He's pretty active, too, builds houses for Habitat. Doctor hasn't been able to figure it out; in the latest stab, the doc gave him a fancy new blood test which shows a potassium deficiency which might -- MIGHT -- be the cause, and put him on potassium supplements, which are cheap. I'll post back if he shows any improvement.
