Tomarrow I start the body for life program

The wife and I are going to do the body for life program as of tomarrow.

I lost about 20lbs since May but I have decided that being a good weight isn't enough, I am going for 'in shape' eye candy as well.

Currently I'm at 210 lbs at 6'1". Despite my BMI saying I'm 'overweight' I've had people tell me I look good and to not lose any more weight or I'll start to look unhealthy. I've always thought 205 was my best weight and while that was my aim, I've changed my thinking to adding the muscle (I've added some this summer but didn't follow a good program) and the weight be damned.

This is going to be an interesting experiment and I should have before/after pictures. There are some obvious flaws in the body for life program, but over all it seems very good for the beginner/intermediate stages.

If anyone else has done this, feel free to post your thoughts. I've wanted to do something like this for years, and now is the time for me.

Day 1 - My arms are TIRED and tomorrow I have a feeling they will be very sore. It was hard enough that I am looking forward to doing cardio tomorrow and I loathe cardio.

I've read the book, and it seems like a sensible program to me. Good luck with it...I'd actually like to hear about it from someone who completes it.

The first 2 weeks you'll be sore, I promise this goes away
Starting any program after not doing much sucks, but eventually your body will miss it when you dont do it.

Yea I'm sore but its not too bad, luckily I have been working out with weights for a few months.

Cardio on the other hand I hate and had been mostly ignoring. Thats going to suck...badly. I only managed 10 mins this morning (doing the high point thing) but some of that was due to my ass hurting on the bike. Need to find something a bit more comfortable next time.

To be the monkey on your back: You need to do your cardio.

Other then that, keep up the good work.

Day 3 - Lower body......

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to walk tomarrow. The legs seem strong enough but will give out at odd moments. Crunches just about killed me.

I should start a journal here of my pain and suffering

Cardio can be made easy if you find the right exersize. Swimming I have always found to be easy and mostly relaxing. While swimming if you have trouble with having to stop often just remember that changing a stroke is never a bad thing. go for fifteen maybe thrity min and you will be set. Also, swimming is allegedly supposed to be the best cardio exersize out there. I started the body for life program about a year ago and I still find myself eating right, and exersizing a few times a week (though I have deviated from the program in many ways). I'm no body builder but I'm healthy and enjoy being active all the time now.

Funny you should say that because I was thinking the same thing last night.

Day 5 - The lower body workout from wed has now come back to haunt me. VERY sore leg muscles. Hope I'm up to speed for the party on Saturday. Still have to do upper body workout.
