SCAM ALERT CIC CREDIT MONITORING.....SCAM ALERT
I am posting this for 3 reasons:
To inform so you don't get sucked in. To see if anyone else has had similar incidences. And to see if I have a case against the company to take to the atty gen in Ohio. PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS..... IT MAY HELP YOU!!!!!!!! This company advertises on Yahoo, E-Bay and other reputable sites as offering free credit. Once you click they ask for you CC# but assure you they will not bill you. They take your information and you are supposed to get an e-mail with your report. You can also click for "free" updates. Well I was suckered in, wanting to know and I did this since then I have been billed monthly $12 and in June an additional $36 for what I have no idea as I have never recieved ANYTHING from them. Once I noticed this unknown billing on my MC I called my card company to ask what it was, thinking it was something from my card. They said they had no idea but had a few customers complain about it and wondered themselves. I called the 800# that appears next to their name on my bill. Lo and behold I got a tape recording saying that (direct quote), "their lines were busy and if I were calling to cancel to e mail them at....." So I e-mailed them May 12th. I saw them on my June bill so I called again..... again i got the same message and the same e-mail address to send a cancel to...... I did on June 13th. In July, again I saw them on my bill, not just for the $12 but for $12 AND a charge for $36........ Again I called...... again same message.... again I e-mailed. Now I have recieved them on my bill again. So today I paid my MC bill by phone asked the card company how to take them off, I can't unless I get a new card...... So.... again I called the 800#....... this time I recieved a live person...... I explained I had e-mailed 3 times to cancel and I wished to cancel. She pulled up my account and said, "well we do show that we tried to charge you but it was denied because of lack of funding.... I assume.... if you give me a new credit card # I can help you....." I got very angry and pissily yelled into my phone, "I DO NOT WANT TO PAY ANOTHER DIME..... I HAVE SENT 3 E MAILS TO CANCEL YOU AND I WISH TO STOP CEASE DESIST ANY FURTHER PAYMENTS." She put me on hold....... 5 minutes later she came back said "you have been cancelled.... goodbye." and hung up. |
You should be able to call you rCC company and have them 'undo' your payments. I've seen things on my cc statement before, that I didn't recognise, and when I queried it with my cc co, they said they'd look into it. Later they came back to me with xyz information, saying did I want to proceed with a fraudulent claim. I said yes I would, they repaid me my money, and the matter was dealt with between the cc co and the people who billed my card.
Credit Card companies need to operate on a general layer of trust between their customers, and the businesses who pay them for making their payments easier. If enough fraudulent claims are logged with the cc company, they will withdraw their business from the people paying them to do their transactions. Anyway, the point is, you should be able to get your money back. |
Brutal, buddy.
This sounds like a fraud thing, if they haven't provided you with a service! My credit card protects me from this kind of thing. I would just call my CC company and say: These charges are fraudulent. I am not paying for them. And then let Visa sort this company out. What kind of fraud protection does your CC company provide? In a nutshell (look at me, I'm in a nutshell!) you should not only take this to the attourney general's office, but sic the dawgs on this company. |

My CC company (MC) did say they could send me a dispute form and would investigate it. I do plan to do that, Monday. |
So I went to their website and wrote them a letter on their "contact us" link.......
Guess what I got back as "undeliverable"? Quote:

More investigations on my end show this company is ALL over the 'net as scam artists and have been cheating folks for as far back as 2003.
Also, of interesting note, they seem to be owned/affiliated with none other than EXPERIAN, the credit reporting company. I talked to my MC bank provider and they are sending forms out to me today to dispute. The guy was extremely nice and said that he has had quite a few people calling him about this company. When I told him about my phone conversation and e-mails he said that he would e-mail his supervisor and see if there was a way they could inform and warn their clients (he may have been BSing me about that, but it made me feel better). $12 doesn't seem like much but when you are watching what you are spending and this charge keeps coming up, even after you have cancelled it (or done what THEY told you to do to cancel it), it pisses you off. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCES WITH THIS COMPANY PLEASE LET ME KNOW. IF THERE ARE ANY LAWYERS ON TFP THAT HANDLE THESE TYPE OF CASES AND CAN OFFER ADVICE IT WOULD BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED. |
Pan, by doing a domain search for the name, I came up with this info:

A free credit report is just that. A list of all your open account, all recent credit inquiries, and and negative notes from the last seven years. It does not contain your credit score. Nor is it supposed to. The bill was passed by congress allowing you to see your report to find out about your various credit accounts status, and see any problems that may have occured or mistakes made. Congress did not compell credit companies to provide your credit score as that is irrelevant to finding and correcting mistakes in your file. If you want the actual credit score number that you are rated at, Experian willl provide it for $9.00 when you order your free report. The page offering it even says in large bold text that this is not a required step. The radio button at checkout for your free report is defualted to "No Thankyou" to order your score unless you opt in and pay. As for your ordeal Pan, Contest it with MasterCard, file a complaint with the BBB in your state and the state where the company is headquartered, and contact your local attorney general in your state to file a complaint that the AG may choose to act on if they so desire. |
