Busted w/ porn?
 

Here's the deal, i got a shitload of movies on the harddrive, all of them hidden in my folder. nobody in the house is smart enough to look for hidden files.

i also have games installed on my folder (instead program files), so you have to go thru my folder to access the games (to prevent access from network and such)

so, i was watching some clips yesterday, so i had to unhide them.

and i forgot to hide them when i was through.


so today, i was gone to college and my lil bro played gta3 on my pc. (which is put in my folder!!)

so, if he went to look for the gta folder, he would have seen like 25 different windows media player icons here and if he's remotely smart, would've figured it out.

he's also started hinting toward me about this, threatning me like "trust me, you dont wanna know what i have on you", and "i ahve something on u, and i dont wanna use it against you".

so i bet he knows, and if he tells my parents, i'm screwed. i bet i get the pc's taken away from my room.

so, what should i do?

here's one solution, i sign his email up in one of the pornsites, make him get shitload of porno emails (i know his pass, but he doesnt konw i know it, so i can log in and delete the initial email w/ the ip). so that way, i can just say i busted him and i can blackmail him w/ that as a leverage.

anyway, i need help

i'm missing the problem. you should be like, "what? you don't like looking at porn too? you can look anytime you want (except when you're on the comp) as long as you don't tell." and once he's looking, he's just as punishable as you.

otherwise, put the porn on cd and erase it as completely as you can from the hard drive.

in regards to your little brother... who you say does play on your computer... i would burn your porn collection onto a cd and then delete it from the hard drive... that way, it's only seen by you, when you decide... makes it nice and easy that way.

Eh, Technically yes BUT as long as you just delete it and delete it from the recycle bin (assuming using windows) that is good enough for 99% of computer users. Its only when you got major computer hacker types trying to bust you on something that you have to worry past that.

Now this question has allready been asked but I am going to ask it again. You say you are going to college and I also assume you are atleast 18 just because you are posting on this board and that is a requirment... So whats the problem? I mean as long as this porn was legal ... There should be no problem. And you indicated that the computer was "yours" Plus you indicated your brother can not find hidden files but they were unhidden at the time. So hide them again. He will just assume you deleted them.

I have an idea... Simply put a password on the folders or the files in the folder.

Purging them is a good idea... Me personally... I bury my porn (at least the porn I used to have before I reformatted my drive) deep into some program folders... Then I encrypted the files using a free program I got off the internet.

Worked like a charm... until I forgot the password to uncrypt them. Stupid 256bit passwords... pissing me off!

Burn it onto a couple CD's, and then delete the entire folder

Computers are a lot easier than having to hide magazines? Couldn't just burn to mislabeled CD and delete those off the HD...

I have mine on a seperate hard drive. I set up permissions ( windows 2000 ) so only certain users can access it. If my mom or anyone else tries to enter the drive it just says access denied.

Odds are your parents are fairly smart and know you are looking at porn, so don't sweat that. As for your brother, do what my older brothers always did to me when I messed with their shit.........WHIP HIS ASS!!

hehe, i keep it burned on a CD as a backup that way i can quickly delete it if need be. My bro started hinting at me the same way yours did, but then i noticed the folders kept being accessed, so i knew he was still coming back for more! Anyway, i just move the folders around every once and a while, b/c i want to be safe if he decides to be an ass or someting

They probably know. All you need to do is keep it remotely hidden so that you avoid any awkwardness, after all they probably don't care but this doesn't mean they want to discuss it with you.
I say, like others here, that you should share it. Approach him before he tells your parents and ask him just what he thinks he has on you that could drop you in it.
Set him up with a password or whatever for the porn and games folder. If he still thinks porn is bad and if he is in any way homophobic a quick "Jeez, what are you, gay?' might persuade him that porn is great.

heres a trick i use, rename all the files to some unconspicuous name, then Zip it with a password (winzip) when you want it, unzip, re name and your set. if you need a quick way to rename files, i can write you a program to do just that.

no.3 save it on rewritables or just move it to cd's

unless your parent is in the IT field you really don't have any worry about it

Heres what I did. Back in the day before the Forum I had shit loads of this stuff. I burned it all to CD and kept it in a safe place. In the event my sister ever caught me I had something on her. Whether it was sneaking out, drinking, whatever.... If your parents care about that stuff at 18 your truly whipped. Plus I caught my dad looking at it once, so i have never worried since. Just get it off the PC, no proof, no problem.

i locked the pc up using the xp user thing. so, when it boots up it asks for pass and i log off everytime i use it, so there is a small chance anyone will ever get on.

burn all that stuff to a cdrw is on my list of things to do, but i have a shitload of porn, i'm talking in the gig's (prolly got like 20-25 gigs on hard drive) and i got like 15 cd's already burned.

hopefully i'll burn it all one day.

by the way, not to judge or anything, but 20-25 gigs of porn is what i might call an excessive amount. Not an illegal, "i should be on some federal law enforcement list", amount, but definitely ALOT.

I learnt recently the beauty of putting all my porn and music vids onto CD-RW. They're well big enough to hold everything and you can use em over again.

Get Bit Torrent, and find some sites which share porn... they are a great source of fresh spank material. Watch them a couple times, burn them onto CD or erase them completely. Also, some Windows directories work to hide things in too.

dont zip it .. a search can see all modified files on a certian date.. burn and delete.. best way.. heck you can even hide the cd's in your tower..

with your brother... get a paint ball gun.. crak it to 300 and light him up.. after wards.. tell him it will be marbels next time..

or better yet.. find what he likes.. i.e. comics and hide his best ones.. tell him when you move out he gets them back.. that would make me shut up lol

bury your porn folder in your windows directory (or somewhere no one should be looking) with a folder name that is similar to some system file/folder name. then hide the folder and its contents. make windows hide all hidden folders. also, you can change the folder icon to look loke a sytem file icon.

heh, i'm still living with my parents too, and i was worried about my brother finding my stash on the computer until i opened winamp to an "anal greek fuck" video. i soon realized that the kazaa search history was full of stuff like "anal fisting" that i didn't search for. i stopped worrying.

if you have access to a DVD-R, you can get those 25GB on just a few disks.

If you are using Win 200 or XP you should be able to each have your own login. Then you can make is so that the user permissions don't allow access to certain folders, etc. quite easily. I think it is security properties of the folder, etc. You should be the "administrator" and give any user their own login and permissions, etc. It is sort of like having a network in your own computer. Just the same if your bro is on his own puter on your network. As for erasing files - just use norton speed disk and use "wipe free space". It is govt. rated. Be sure that the unerase wizard or nortonprotect is not on or purged.

I like this approach. Sometime when your parents are out, check out their room and see where they keep their toys. It will be very near the bed, probably under it or in a bedside nightstand.

Once you know where their "stash" is, you have yourself covered. Whatever embarassing thing you have is probably nothing compared to what they have.

The conservative ones are the easiest to deal with. They often have the raunchiest stuff in their own bedroom.

Ouch, ive had a similar situation. The virus on kazaa that has a crapload of stuff attacks to it with all this porn crap my sister found and told my dad and got me busted cause my family dont know shit about computers i tried to explain to them.

First set up a different account for your bro, then Put your stash in the Windows folder, name it something inconspicuous, and modify the permissions so that nobody can see it but you.

Or tell your bro to fuck off, and if he tells your parents, tell them that it's your comp, it's legal for you to watch porno, and there's nothing wrong with porno anyway.

i've done several things recommended.

i've created different user profiles (well, actually one. and that's mine and it's got a password on it).
i am the only person that use this computer now. my parents and lil bro uses the older 500mhz k6-2 pc.

my mom is the only person that occasionaly gets on anymore (when the other pc is busy) and she doesnt know to go much further than check the history (i forget it sometimes, but i've been lucky so far). i put a porn in a remote location and she wont get 1000 miles from it.

i've also burned a lot of cd's (i'd say about 25 cd's) and i still got about the same amt on the hd. the cause?? one word. Adultbouncer

they brag about having a 2100 gigs of content so sometimes i get carried on.......

Yeah the problem with "pay porn" is you feel like you have to download stuff and just rip all the content you can while you have a membership to get your moneys worth.

25gigs isn't as much as some people are making it out to be, I think full movies, compressed are about 750 megs, dvd rips are around 4gigs each

Yup, but it depends on the resolution.

Most full movies are +/- 750 MB at 512 x 384 resolution. Or they're broken into 2 or more CDs if a higher resolution (like 640 x 480) - each CD is 750MB. (That always bothered me - the max storage for any CD is 700 MB. Why make a "CD" that can't be stored on a CD?)

I was going to download a hi-def movie, but decided against it when I realized it was comprised of twelve 400 MB rar files (4.4 GB total!) A true DVD rip, as you mentioned.

With HD now, I've download single scenes that are over 700 MB.

Going back to the O.P., though - which is unnecessary, since he hasn't posted in four years - the best solution now is to use an external hard drive.

As far as 20 GB being "a lot" of porn; hell - I've got 20 GB of downloaded porn I haven't even watched yet.

We have a "family computer" (mainly his) with separate accounts and each our own laptop. It just starts getting cluttered if you have different organization systems.

There used to be many short, low-res clips out there because of limited storage on hard drives, but I was downloading 700+ MB movies on Kazaa as far back as 1999. It took forever with a 56 kbs modem, but I just let it DL all night.
With technology giving us cable modems, digital cameras and ever-increasing hard drive capacity, though, naturally porn files are getting more abundant and increasingly larger.

Also, Viagra really changed the porn industry. Porn scenes from the 70s , 80s, and early 90s lasted 10-12 minutes. Now, they average 25-35 minutes, with multi-camera editing stretching some to an hour.

Technology is great - my first hard drive was 40 MB. Nowadays, that's a 4-minute avi file at 640 x 480 resolution.

Oh, and genuinegirly, the O.P. was worried about his mom finding his porn; not his wife.

EDIT LATER: I just saw a couple clips on a favorite porn site that had two 20-minute scenes that were over 900MB each!!! Yikes!!
