At first glance, it seems like this would support the device working and I'm not a biology major so I may be misunderstanding. But what I got out of reading about the biophotonic scanner is that it tests for carotonids in your system. The problem with that is that Raman spectroscopy (again as I understand it) is best used on a sample that's uniform in nature. Because it relies on Raman scattering it's very difficult to control precisely which molecules in the sample the photons will interact with, which means it will not give a reliable reading on anything so diverse as the human body, where the molecular makeup of the skin is different from the blood is different from muscular tissue is different from nervous tissue, etc etc. And even so, the majority of the photonic interaction will occur in the skin cells on the surface of your body, which (we all remember high school biology right?) are dead and not likely to provide any useful information anyway. And even if they did, performing the test on someone's hand in a high school gym, the possibility of contamination is very high. The beauty of this device, assuming it actually works on Raman spectroscopy, is that no two people have exactly the same molecular makeup, so even though the numbers it's giving aren't particularly useful it will give a different one for each individual. And if you mention the Raman effect, start talking about vibrational quanta, Raman and Raleigh scattering and stokes lines, most people are going to zone out and assume 'it's scientific, it must work'. The people performing the test may well believe that what they're doing is accurate and helpful, simply due to a lack of understanding. Failing that, if you don't want to read my nerdy (amateur) scientific analysis, think of it this way. The Raman effect was observed in the 1930's and this device according to the literature has been around for several years. If it's been around that long and is really that helpful, why isn't one in every hopital and clinic in every first world country the world over? Doctors and health professionals would love a way to quickly and accurately determine the level of different substances in the body and if this thing truly does work based on the Raman effect it should be pretty easy to adapt it to detect any substance you could name. So why aren't we using it?

I have no idea why you keep saying high school. I'm gonna let it slide...
As far as my take on this shit? They took a idea, something that, even if it worked perfect.. isn't so amazing. I think this device does do something, it isn't a flash light attached to a box. So whatever information it gives back, somewhat corralates to these carotonids. The device was never specific, it gave like a 1 - 10 health number. Everyone here is so quick to say, "100% bullshit". Someone found this device, and went crazy with it, MLM style. There are other test for checking carotonids.. but who wants to do that? Doctors don't really deal with "free radicals" or 'anti toxins'. I'm willing to give the machine a little room, it gives a rough estimate on carotonids. But even if it was 100% corrent, so what? "take a multi-vitamin, and eat veggys?" no shit? I had horrid health, was eating shit, and got a low score. People who were eating a little less shitty, got a little higher. And the people eating home cooked meals got the highest. So, I don't give it the "bullshit doesn't work." I say, "maybe it works, but so what?"

I am currently testing this machine for accuracy of a sort.
I was tested (and had a nice low rating) by a somewhat quackpot medical friend of mine. I'm going to try the suppliments and them I'm going to lie to the machine (say I'm taking nothing etc etc) and see if it effects my score.

Vincentt - I'm sorry about misunderstanding what sort of school you went to. You sayschool and for some reason I think high school, although that's not the case. It was an unwarranted assumption and I apologize.
Having said that, I still don't see how this device can do any sort of useful measuring. Anecdotally it seems to have worked for you and you seem to believe in it. That's fine, but I'll reserve my own judgement and will advise that you not trust your health entirely to this thing.

How old are you? If you're under say... 45... there shouldn't be THAT many free radicals in your system unless you never eat well at all. I guess if you diet consisted on McD's 3x7 and pop you could rack them up. Take some anti-oxidant vitamins if you're really worried. Frankly, there isn't a lot of medical proof as to what level of "free radicals" is too high of a level anyhow.
