Male Cleanliness II
Hi, just wanted some advise on which products work best. Right now I shower with regular soap and shampoo. When I get out of the shower my hair is kind of frizzy and "rough".. what the best way to keep your hair nice and soft, is there a special way to dry it besides a towel and blow dryer? Also what soaps are best for your skin? Lotion? Moisturizer? Body spray? Cologne?
Any advise will be great |

Avoid anti-bactierial soaps. If you can find natural ones - use them (no chemicals except lye).
As for your hair - tru shampooing only every other day, In between use just the conditioner. I prefer the Aussie Miracle products. (I have butt-length, naturally curly hair that I HAVE to get at least wet every day). Can you let your hair dry naturally? Just brush it out and see how it fares. |

What the hell is a Bump?
which hair are you talking bout? If your talking about head hair..then use a conditioner..not one thats a 2 in 1 (shampoo/conditioner). Make sure the conditioner is all in your hair and let it sit for a bit..finish washing/shaving...then rinse off thoroughly. You can really feel the difference..Oo nice and shiny! If you want..you can even moose(sp?not the animal..lol) your hair and blow dry it then..gives volume and keeps frizz down..I dont believe in hair sprays/mooses or whatnot, but my friend swears by that stuff..try it. If you keep blowdrying your hair it dries it out too much and creates split ends and cracked hair..try to towel dry and air dry.. Any soaps with added moisturizers..like Dove(expensive but good)or Ivory(cheap but mild)...try to stay away from Irish spring even though it smells great..it dries the skin a lot. Or even try a body wash, which is a liquid soap that you can use with a loofah that is like a fluffy ball(get one at the dollar store). The loofah helps remove dead skins on your body and helps regenerate new skin, try not to use too often or your skin dries out. A good idea is always to put moisturizing body lotion/cream after you shower..your body is moist and the added cream helps keep in that moisture..Greasy creams work best, but for less grease feel use waterbased stuff. Cologne?Im not a man but yeah helps prevent bacteria growth and infection right?Smells good too..Ooo~ yummers not too much or you'll suffocate the girl..and yourself..(curl your nose hairs!EE~!) Body spray for men?Humm Im not sure bout that..thats a good idea ! Look at a drug store and search for some...tell me if you find anything! Oh and if your shaving..its always good to let your skin soak in water well before you shave..bout 5mins..or as long as you can..opens the pores to the hair and easier to shave and closer too! Well, Hope that helped you a bit! Whats a Bump!? |

He was bumping up his post so it was on the newer page :-)
I try to use a shampoo/conditioner with no alcohol in it (anything ending in 'ol') I never used to wash my hair often, but now I was it every second day, and its so nice! Then put on some Lynx (I think its called Axe in the UK/US), that usually smells great!

Cut your hair short... it solves all maintenance problems
I don't really much to add as when it comes to soap and stuff I just use what I get as gifts from the women in my family (my cousin every year gives people body shop or similar type stuff) or buy the cheapest stuff. You mentioned body sprays, do you mean something like Axe? I know the ads are cheesy but I kinda like the stuff. It isn't overly strong like a cologne but it provides a nice smell that isn't "deodorant smell". Unfortunately the stuff is a little overpriced. I dunno, I guess my solution to better cleanliness is shower twice a day instead of just once, lol

If you post, the thread moves to the top.. so more people read it. Anyways... I have Dreadlocks... dont wash my hair often(2x week at most). When i do wash it, sometimes i use soap. I dont have any bacterial problems that i know of. My hair looks pretty clean and chicks dig it. Get dreds =) if you can pull it off.
