Birth control causing hair loss? Now what?
I was on the birth control patch for exactly 2 years. About 6 months into this, something happened in my life to caused LOTS of stress and I began losing some hair. I thought it was the stress causing it (which it didnt help any). And about 6 months after that I started calming down my stress levels and was happier with my life. But the hair loss was still happening. Its not a whole lot, but it was noticable to me. So I thought maybe it was the shampoo I was using because my scalp was always irritated, so I changed and still no progress. Towards the end of the 2 years I came to the conclusion that it was the birth control. So now I am off. My scalp isnt irritated anymore, but I am still slightly thin.
Now I am trying to figure out how to get the little bit of hair I lost back. I dont want to use Rogain because its not a lot of thinning, just a little. And I heard that if you start using it, you cant stop or the loss will return (or something like that). Should I just give it time to grow back? Try some vitamins? Ideas? Any ideas? |

Getting an age-related hormone test panel done may be a good idea. A panel the tests your estrone, estriol, estradiol, progesterone, DHEA, melatonin, and testosterone. You may be deficient in testosterone.
The good thing is any physician that is skilled in ordering and reading such a panel will hopefully give you natural hormone replacements to bring your levels up. These are still synthesized in a lab, but the end product is a lab-created hormone that is identical to human estrogen. Unlike the typical “patented hormones” like those used in many birth control medications others. You can’t put a patent on Mother Nature’s design therefore there’s more profit to be made by altering, like with horse urine.
