gaining weight

I think that I'm the only person with the problem of gaining weight. I can't gain weight for the life of me! I can lose weight easily but gaining weight is a problem. I am slim right now, but I wanna be ripped. I decided that this is the summer where I actually do it. I have been lifting like crazy but I need to know what a good combination of food and lifting would be or if there are any supplements out there that would help me out. Thanks!

You are actully not the only one. I am not one of you bastards but my dad was and many of my friends are. If you are serious about putting on weight and again yes you want to put on muscle and not fat obviously. I would say the best way to do it is the same way you go about losing weight (which is to say the way people do it sucessfully) First thing. If you are serious and even more so if you want to gain serious weight (more then 20 lbs) I would suggest your first stop is going to a nutritionist. A licensed PHD holder mind you. If nothing else go to your doctor but a nutritionist would be your first step if possible.(Plus they are normally cheaper then regular doctors) Tell them what you want to do. How much weight you want to put on. Second would be to work out. Get a membership to a gym. Most gyms will help you devolp a good workout plan. It should include weight lifting but also carido. Above all else do not expect over night sucess. Do not look for specfic weight gain. Just go for being healthy and some muscle gain. I personally do not see the point of trying to go past fit and toned. But if you ARE trying to go for muscle bound jock type then defintly get with a personal trainer. But again I must stress. As far as suplements go and what you eat goes get that information from your nutrionist and follow what he says above all else.

Get a good workout split, eat protein, get some creotene (think that's how it's spelled, never took it myself, very popular though).

gaining weight

Yeah, my goal is to gain 15lbs. I have tried creatine before and I was very happy with the results, but as soon as I stopped using it the gains I made diminished as well. Im trying that drink a gallon of water a day thing right now and I've started eating more (healthy foods) and increased my protein intake.

I can fully understand you! I myself am tring to gain some weight. Im pretty skinny right now but i want to gain weight so that i can work that added weight into muscle. I've been working out for awhile and nothing really seems to help. I've heard protein shakes help but have not yet tried. So i think my next plan will be to try and get a protein shake, work out more, and eat more meat. Good luck SofaKingA!!

You are defenitely not on your own, but most Men's Health magazines would make you think so. I've been trying to gain weight for a while. Its a slow process for me. I lift and eat a lot of protein, straight can of tuna before bed every night. I've been thinking about looking into some supplements, creatine etc. I read in Men's Health Journal that in a recent study Pro-Creatine Monohydrate was one of the only supplements out there that actually showed really good results. Exercise must be persistent though.

im about 6'3" 180 -185 pounds... im the same way.....about a year ago when i was working out 5 times a week i was taking whey protein along with my work outs....i was gaining an average of 2 lbs per week for 5 - 6 weeks and once i stopped drinking the shakes i lost that weight again and was back to where i started weight wise althou i maintained my strength....

my best advise would be the whey protien use it in a few shakes a day while ur trying to gain wieght and once u get to what ur happy with u can reduce it to just one shake a day to maintain rather than gain

I have a similar metabolism from hell. I've always been lean and wanting to add muscle. I've had some recent success by eating more often but not as much in one sitting. I eat something every hour or so (between meals). Dinner is my biggest meal of the day which I have a little after working out. Make sure you get some type of protein within 15 minutes after working out so your muscles will have something to "eat." Have dinner about an hour later(lots of protein). I gained about 15 pounds in 6 months which is great for me. I had some success with the EAS whey protein. A couple of shakes per day--it tastes great and it's not too expensive; about $30 for 5lbs. of the stuff. The cost per gram of protein works out to be very inexpensive. Rememer too when working out--high weight and low reps.

Sounds like you're on the right track to me, SofaKingA.

As long as you're working out and eating healthily, your body should take care of the rest. As long as you continue to work out, you're going to want to eat more, which is great. Just make sure you keep eating healthy!

You may want to get your thyroid checked- its a simple blood test. Other symptoms of hyperthyroidism are increased pulse, nervousness, and diarrhea.

mmm CARBS! eatting a lot of carbs and protein i would think would do it but im not sure if there is anything else u need to do

If you really wanna bulk up then I'd suggest Cell-Tech creatine. You can find this at GNC. It's a lil on the pricey side but the results speak for themselves. It's around 31 dollars and should last you for about 2 weeks (depends on how often you work out) The only downside to taking creatine is once you srat, you have to keep taking it to maintain ur muscle mass. I gained 11 lbs. in 8 weeks which isn't bad at all. I seen results with-in the first 3 weeks and my family and friends were noticing differences in my arms and chest. So if you wanna dish out the dollars, then I'd recomend this to you.

For god sakes, don't take creatine. All it does is cause your mucles to retain water, which makes you look bigger but actually be weaker.

Eat lots protein and carbs. Work out regularly, mixing calesthenic, isometric, and weight training in equal parts. Run once or twice a week for 20 minutes minimum.

The number one thing needed for gaining proper mass, and not just fat, is a good diet. If I was you, I would ignore supplements like weight gainers and creatine. They work, but only as supplements to a proper diet. Sites like www.bodybuilding.com have loads of articles on how to bulk properly. Just get your diet into shape and most importantly, stick to it consistantly.

workout and have a perfect diet given to you by ur nutrionist.

do these 2 and ur set

Scipio 06-21-2003 06:46 AM

I'm in the same boat. My plan is to eat more, and exercise more. Simple math says if you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight, otherwise, you lose it. I'm wary about creatine, since I've heard there is potential for injury.
