New Food Pyramid
So, the food pyramid is finally revamped. Completely more involved than it used to be. Now it tells you your exact caloric intake, gives you many tips on types of food to eat, and definitely tries to shy away from simple carbs. All the Atkins research brought to attention something that was known for quite a while.. Refined grains are bad! Anyway, have a look: http://www.mypyramid.gov/

I've had a chance to look at it, and I must say it's pretty complicated. It was hard enough to get people to follow the old one (they didn't) so I really don't forsee anyone following this one now. Heck, a lot of people can't even make sense of it.

They left off fast food... what kind of food program doesn't include the most widely consumed food in America? Have these guys been living under a rock?

It was a Darwinian thing - made for the smarter people. The others won't survive and it will just leave us smarter people to propogate the species.
