Anyone ever get attacked by itches all of a sudden?
Hi. Ok. I am sitting here minding my own business and I start itching on my right foot. I scratch and scratch and it won''t go away. Then it spread to the leg and then my whole back. Now spots on my head and my back and right arm are itching like hell. My butt itches too .

All the time while I was pregnant. Course that causes all kinds of wierd things to happen with your body.
For a while there I had severely dry skin. Covering myself with babyoil after every shower and periodically throughout the day was the only way to keep from scratching my skin off. Eventually my body changed and it didn't happen so often. Now Changes in the season, wintertime, and my diet all tend to affect how dry my skin is. Baths with oatmeal and plenty of good lotion (like Eucerine) help to remedy it now most of the time.

Sounds like the time that I got hives. Sudden itching, then spread all over my body. Did you eat something new? Try a new laundry soap/bath soap/cologne, etc? Do you have bumps? I ended up at the ER because the benadryl I took at home wouldn't stop the itching (I didnt take enough) and then I started shaking uncontrollably. If it's an allergic reaction, benadryl might be a solution.
Duh! I just looked at the date...it's probably resolved by now. I hope whatever it was went away!!

Dry skin, probably. Allergies, possibly, as Martian says. Especially as it's spring, when plants eject mass quantities of pollen. And yes, I've had them.
For me, I either put on some kind of moisturizing lotion, take a shower, or both (shower before lotion). A shower with a good, oil-based soap that doesn't dry out your skin could wash off any dust or pollen that's irritating you, and clean up dryness at the same time. Oh yes, and don't scratch. Makes it worse. |

I'd vote for hives, but you didn't way you had big ol' red bumps...so, what did you eat? Could be food allergies.... I once ate some kiwi. Tasted great. In fifteen minutes my throat closed up. Scared the shit outta me. Other foods can cause other body problems, like itching.

Happened to me once. Got so bad I couldn't sleep. I mean it was fuggin INSANE and I had no visible symptoms. I had to put gloves on to go to bed, or I'd wake up bloody. I ended up in a conference of sorts with a couple of docs and a dermatolagist. They basically said that they had no clue, but that they often had no clue for a wide variety of skin conditions. They gave me a cure-most-skin-conditiosn cream. It went away.

Dry skin, happens if I shower more often than once a day during the summer, and quite often whether or not in the winter.... Drink a gallon of liquor and you won't feel a thing...
