Smoking trap
ok i wanna know how i can catch me sister smoking. I want to know the visible tell tale signs. She will never do it at home for sure so cant catch her there.
I have noticed alot of chewing gum in her purse. Stuff like marks, skin or teeth colouration...etc stuff like that which i can see and tell. Please lemme know and then how to get her to quit thanks |

Smell her?
Confrontation is probably the best method. If you're just going on she has a lot of gum in her purse (and why are you going through her purse) you'd better come up with some more solid evidance than that before bringing the matter to the table.

Why do you want to catch her? I believe that attempting to catch her "red-handed" as it were would just send the wrong signal. It's fairly confrontational, when the best method to help somebody quit smoking is to be supportive.
With that in mind, I think it would be best to just have a talk with her, as opposed to trying to come up with evidence and catch her. Tell her you are concerned that she might be smoking, and whether she is or not doesn't matter to you, you just want to be there for her if she needs help quitting. She may not be upfront about it right away, but when she's ready she will come to you for help and when she does she's going to have a much better chance of quitting with the support and love of her family. That's going to create a much more hospitable and comfortable environment for the healing to begin. I can tell you, as a smoker, the last thing you want is confrontation because it has a tendency to make you want to smoke even more.

I'd just like to point out that you don't have much choice. There aren't really a lot of physical signs unless you're a heavy smoker, at which point you may get some niccotine stains on your teeth and hands. If she's chewing gum it's to cover up the smell of it, which means if she is smoking she's covering her tracks.
So, yeah. Think about why you want to catch her and what everyone else said. |
