Does anyone find tampons uncomfortable?

I am a long time user of pads which I hate and every few months or so try tampons, but I can always feel them inside me. Am I doing something wrong? Are O.B. easier? I've never tried them. Or am I just not physically made to wear them? Any advice is appreciated.

The only think I can think of is that you might not be pushing them in far enough. Your vaginal walls should be pretty pliable when it comes to something the size of a tampon and so you shouldn't be able to feel it too much once it's in all the way. But if it's too close to the entrance to your vagina, it can push against one side as you move your body around, especially when you're sitting.

If it's not that, I'd suggest seeing the GYN and asking about it.

I am the same way...I dont care how far I push those suckers in I can still feel them, and god forbid If I cough or sneeze...they wont stay in most of the time. My gyn told me some women, who are "short" inside like I am, just arent built to be able to use them, and that didnt mean anything was "wrong", I just either dealt with the fact that I could feel them or I used pads.

I love the OB tampons, I cannot for the life of me get anything else to stay in. But the OB ones I sometimes forget they are there they are so comfortable.

I use Tampax tampons myself. I always choose something with an easy applicator. I'm guessing that you aren't pushing them in far enough cause the same thing happened to me. It stopped once I figured how far to push it in without feeling it.

I have gone more than 25 years of menstruation without using tampons more than maybe a total of a dozen times altogether. I find them very uncomfortable and they make my cramps much much worse. It's not a matter of how far I push them in, either. I resigned myself years ago to the fact that I'm just a pad kinda girl. The only ones I can tolerate at all are those tiny little OB ones, which I might use once in a blue moon under unusual circumstances.

I don't know if it's because I'm kind of on the small side or what. I'm not "short" like Shani mentioned though - actually I'm kind of a long and narrow shape inside. Interestingly, I can't use a diaphram either - even the smallest size they make is still uncomfortable. Anyhow, rest assured you're not the only one.

The thing is, after years of doing it this way, now the thought of blocking that stuff up inside me doesn't sound very appealing at all. After all, it's supposed to be coming out, you know?

Not putting this thread in the Ladies' Lounge is just going to invite no talent male ass-clowns to make silly remarks like "I don't find tampons comfortable." Although I guess in my own way, I just did that.

Sorry for interrupting the thread. Please continue. I was never here.

I cant stand pads, Im VERY heavy so it always feels "messy and unfresh" unless youre very heavy try a lighter tampon.. like Playtex gentle glides or kotex makes a "junior" absorbancy I think. Theyre very small and the plastic applicator makes it very easy.

I do agree though some women just cant use them I know a few girls from my high school swim team who really just couldnt tolerate them and had to sit out the days of their periods.

I can't use them regularly either...I always feel them. I will use the junior size for when I am swimming, or in an outfit where I can't have pantylines.

I don't like to use tampons because they make my cramps worse, like Squishor said. But I would agree with everyone who has suggested a smaller size and a plastic applicator. OB without applicators are also good because they're so tiny.

Good luck.

The ob without applicator are the only ones I can use with any sort of comfort. I can feel them inside me when my flow isn't very heavy, but ob have just started makeing a new kind that is slimmer and covered in the same sort of material that always pads are, they are called "silk ease" and they are the most comfortable tampon I have ever used, and go in a lot easier than anything else too.

Could it be that you're not lubricated enough? Some women are just dry naturally, so that could be it. It could be that maybe you're not inserting it in far enough, as some ladies have already noted.

Personally, I don't like using them. I am also of the opinion that nothing should be kept in a bodily orifice for hours at a time. It just doesn't feel healthy to me or something.

In all honesty, I've never been able to wear tampons. If I do, it hurts like hell. IMHO, it has nothing to do with lubrication, as a) I am always lubricated, day and night, and b) when you have your period, the menstrual blood IS lubrication, so all women are naturally lubricated around that time.
