I'm 6'1 and weigh 220. My goal is 180 for now. I've got to stop drinking and get rid of this extra beer pudge. Time to grind it out and get this done folks, I'm only gonna be in my twenties for 4 more years.

ring -5' 7" 237 lbs. almost 51 years old. ( and no I am not big-boned. I actually have a very small frame)

Menopause has only been part of the culprit.

I look forward to reporting back here, a month from now.

I've been leaning on food for a long time as my drug of choice. Finally decided to stop. Walking everywhere in town, plus lots at school now, campus is big. It's 30 - 45 minutes of walking a day, and leaves me pretty out of breath.

I cut down to 1200-1500 calories a day on Monday and have been at it, and I'm feeling pretty good. More energetic, and not too hungry. I think most of my hunger is really probably 'reflexive', me wanting to eat due to habit/boredom/whatever.

Anxst - 6'0" 362 lbs. 32 male as of Monday. I'll weigh myself again Monday and see how I'm doing. Hopefully the height, age and sex will still be the same.

An update!

Down 60 lbs .. currently at 185 and still ticking down. Really proud of myself that its still coming off despite the holiday season and the restricted activity outside due to weather conditions.

Been at it a month. Only over on calories one day, when we had company over and I made cocktails. Even then, it was only 500 calories over. I mostly drank Pink Gins.

Went from 362 to 344 pounds in a month. Here's hoping I can keep it up.

Plateauing this week, but keeping it rolling. I'm at 312/313 pounds for the last 8 days. In response I've upped calories to 1500-1600 daily and will continue that for another 4-5 days, then back down to 1200-1300. I'm now walking as fast as I can for 40-45 minutes daily. At my size it's a pretty good workout.

Warrrreagl - 201 pounds (I still can't get the English conversion correct - 14 stone maybe?). I have officially lost 90 pounds since July 26. My target BMI calls for me to lose 10 more pounds, but I'm going for 15 more to be sure.

At this time 2 years ago, I weighed 325. This morning, I was 179 even. I've stopped making excuses for not going to the gym and am seriously considering going and figuring out what I can manage to lift even though I was literally unable to lift my right arm two days ago.

Congrats everyone

I'm currently up 5 at 190 but working on adjusting the the long term lifestyle choices, and watching some extra muscle in areas I had not had it before. Lots of hip dancing, and realizing how much carrying groceries can do for you.

Starting weight 04/19/10 - 257 on a 6'2 frame.

Current weight as of 6/10/10 - 242

Goal is 220

I'm supposing this thread could always use new blood to add to the fun.
I have found due to lifestyle changes and everything, I went from a comfortable 165 for almost 12 years to 200lbs in the last three years. I have recently been running into health issues, and my doctor suggested that lack of excersize and bad diet could be part of the cause. So I got a membership to the local gym and have been swimming every day, I now walk instead of driving and will be starting a weight training regimen soon, although I want to see what I can lose before I put it back in muscle.

Jeon - 5'11" 200.2lbs age 27

Congratz to all those who have been at this awhile and are finding their success, and good luck to those who are still working towards their goals (mine being between 150-170lbs)

Here's some food for thought (heheh, see what I did with the pun thing, there... food for thought... heh):

1) Former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop funded his Shape Up America campaign with more than $2 million from Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. (I.e., all that "obesity scare" stuff you hear on the news that supposedly comes from government sources is actually funded by the weight loss industry.)

2) Weight Watchers spends more than $30 million each year on advertising. Jenny Craig spends $20 million.

3) The only reason Weight Watchers (and Jenny Craig, et al) is a successful business model is because they have repeat customers. In other words, you lose the weight, but you'll be back. ...How else are they supposed to make their money?

Um...I guess you must've missed the point of the thread. The thread isn't related to Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig at all. Rather, we borrowed their model of community-based support for people trying to lose weight. People can post their current weight here and expect to receive positive support as they try and make changes to their lifestyle and themselves.

Ah, cool. Glad to know it's not related to any kind of support of the weight loss industry. While I'm all for people doing with their bodies whatever they choose, it's unfortunate that so much of our self esteem is tied to a number on a scale or how we feel we look in the mirror. Being the best person I can be and creating an environment where people of all sizes and shapes can feel comfortable, respected, seen and loved are the things that are important to me, not necessarily obtaining a smaller waistline or seeing a smaller number on the scale.

I was actually about to ask if this was for people actually on Weight Watchers. I like the idea behind the thread. I think accountability will help me to get to the gym. Personally I'm not so concerned with the number on the scale as I am with my health and appearance (yeah I'm a little bit shallow).

Right now I'm 214lbs and I'd like to be 195ish if I had to pick a goal weight.

If you have health issues due to your weight and you want to become more active to take care of it, that's great. But keep in mind: you can't judge someone's health based on their appearance. Unless they've specifically told you that they have health issues, you have no way of knowing. Judging someone's health based on their appearance is kind of like judging the size of someone's bank account by the clothes on their back or the car they drive. You don't know until you ask. And if you haven't asked, don't assume.

I didn't want to participate in your continuing threadjack but since you can't be bothered to check out the first page of a 12-page thread, I'll kick out the jams here for eine minuten: It's scientific fact that most people that have that extra 20+ pounds of blubber on their body are at significantly increased risk for health problems. The human body is designed to operate best within certain parameters. Encumbering your cardiovascular system with all that I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, for example, is how you end up shaving years off your life. Your Dr. Phil "It's okay to be fat" philosophy is exactly what is killing this country. Complacency and acceptance. The roughly half of the population of the United States is considered overweight and approximately fifth that is considered obese are thinking the same thing. Check it: Heart disease kills more people than old age, work accidents and angry spouses.

I don't get where you're going with your "Don't judge me!" argument, but this thread deals with the idea that losing weight is good for your health, not just for your appearance. Do we live in a superficial, vain culture? Yes. You can't argue that. But that isn't what this thread is about.

June 15 of last summer I was 185 pounds. When i weighed in July 5 2011, I was 213. EEK. Not good. I'm back in this thread too after having some major life changes that impacted my mental health and my activity levels.


After a week back on weight watchers for portion/food balance and back to at least 40 minutes of moderate cardio 5 times a week, I weighed in July 10 at 207.6.

Yes I have a few health issues due to my weight and diet. And I never claimed that I used appearance to judge a person's health so I'm not sure how you jumped to that conclusion other than I mentioned them in the same breath.
