Weekly weigh in... No change this week... still 134 pounds. Really focusing on pumping up the workouts in the coming week and see if that makes a difference.

Hi, my name is sportswidow and I am a carbohydrate junkie.

Before my son was born, I lost 30 lbs on weight watchers. Apparently, it is creeping it's way back. I need help to stop it before it gets worse.

1/11/06: weighed in at 142 (ultimate goal: 125)

Welcome and good luck

It is also suggested in this thread that you post what you are doing to help with the weight loss (or gain for some members) so that we may learn what each person is doing and what is working or not working for them.

That way, if you're doing something that's really successful that I haven't heard of... i can try it too

Thanks SweetPea.

For starters I am going to count my points again. I was very successful prior to child #2 using Weight Watchers, so I am going to try that first. I am also going to increase the amount of water I drink, from none to at least 6 glasses.

I think the biggest problem I have is finishing the kid's food when they are done. I have to stop that!

I woke up this morning with a few questions.

Do you weigh your self every day?

How do I know if my scale is accurate?

ugh, there were other questions I had. Coffee is not working yet.

I have a cheap $18 dollar scale that has somehow stayed accurate for the past two years and registers the same weight that the fancy scale at the doctors office does. I have the one on the left: http://www.northshorecare.com/dial-p...or-scale.html#

However, my sister-in-law (who lost about 40 pounds recently) swears by her digital scale, something like this: http://www.scalesgalore.com/pbath.htm

In short: if your scale is of the cheap variety like mine and pretty old (over 2-3 years), it probably needs to be replaced.

I weigh myself everyday (cuz i'm neurotic) ... but for the purpose of this thread, i post official Weekly weigh ins.

hope that helps

Hurzahh! 14st 7lbs. Which is four pounds down on last week. Oh yeah.

On the subject of weighing myself I think that's best done once a week at the most. If you do it everyday then you can end up fixating on the times that you don't lose weight, which if you loose on average two pounds a week is going to be most days. Whereas if you do it once a week then it's more likely to be a loss and you get to feel a little boost about heading in the right direction. But hey whatever works for you.

Ok, it's been about 3 weeks, and I've gained my seven pounds as of this morning's weigh-in, so I can finally go back to my normal foods and eat to maintian rather than gain.

Back to peppers and carrots for snack foods (eating healthy is so much more expensive than junk food), diet soda when I drink it at all, but mostly water otherwise, and grilled fish and chicken breasts for my protein, with the bulk of my calories coming from brown rice and vegetables.

Today: 115 lbs. at 5' 7", BMI of 18 even. Back to my standard 1200-1500 calories a day instead of 2500. Woo hoo!

I weigh myself neuroticly like sweetpea every morning. It's the ritual, get up, take a leak, step on the scale. It may be better to do it DonnovalDuVal's way, only once a week, but I can never wait that long. The longest I have gone without weighing myself since starting the diet was 3 days.

This morning, I have finally gotten past my previous lowest of 206, I'm now 203. And that officially puts me (according to some height/weight chart I saw online) on the high side of the "Ideal" category. I'm 6'4" and if I have a heavy bone structure, that chart says 204 was the high end of it. I think I'm medium or possibly light structured, however. I'm not splitting hairs, I'm on the chart for the first time in 8 or more years!

I find this doesn't work for me. If I weight myself only, say, once a week, it can just as easily be at a time when I've bloated up for a day or something. If I weigh myself every day and chart it, then I can see, with my eyes, the over all trend (hopefully downward) inspite of daily fluctuations.

I was 230ish in May.

Got down to 202 in November (-3 from my goal of 205)

Went on vacation and came back about 209 or so, and stayed around there.

Now I've been sick for 2 weeks, almost ate nothing last week, and I am back to 202.

NOT a method I recomend

I bought a new scale this weekend. Today I weigh in at 142.6. I am trying the Special K plan, which is to lose 6 lbs in 2 weeks. We shall see if I make it for 2 weeks. The plan is to eat 1 serving of any Special K cereal with 2/3 skim milk for breakfast and lunch. 3rd meal is normal (but I plan on measuring everything out as if I am on Weight Watchers). Snacks consist of fruit, veggies, and the Special K bars. I started this on Sunday, so today is only day 2.

edited to add: Congrats to all those who lost and/or reached their goal!

Down to 206, total 69 lbs lost. I've been a little loose in what I've been eating (about 2500 cal/day) so Monday I started back on my 1800-2000 cal/day.

Since the 1st of the year, the gym has been a pain in the ass to go to, as its been packed with the New Years resolutioners, but this week it's getting less crowded...

Wow, I'm bad at posting here.

155 lbs as of today, just weighed myself after my workout. I'm really happy that I'm seeing some gains already. I'm starting to look healthy again (I didn't look unhealthy, but not nearly as fit as I did).

Gilda, congrats on the weight, even if it means I no longer have a weight gain buddy.

EDIT - Also, remember that BMI is a guideline only. According to it I'm at a healthy weight, with a BMI of 21.6. The reality is, I need to gain at least another ten pounds to be healthy and would be better with twenty (this according to my dietician).

I cannot do the special K thing anymore. I was getting way too hungry during the day and then eating too much for dinner. Back to trying to count points and doing Weight Watchers again.

Weighing in at 141.6 today.

Well, i think you're smart to do what you know works for you.... and indeed, it's not good to be starving one point of the day and then overeating, being really hungry is hard to sustain

the point is you're still at it

----------------------------------------

I'm doing pretty well with week... i've decided to go with what others suggested and weight myself only once a week, that way, i can see more progress than the mico. amounts i loss on a daily basis...

My boss (who is Iranian) and the tinest woman, gave me the recipe for this rice, with Lima beans and dill weed, so i've been eating that primarily this week, with a couple slices of cheddar cheese on the side for calcium... i had a couple small bowls of low cal. ice cream this week, but i've been working out 45 minutes a day on the eliptical ... i weigh myself in two days, so i will post the results for this week then and hopefully i won't still be stuck at 134

Day 1 of counting points. I blew it this weekend, it was my daughter's birthday and I was on an emotional downswing. I ended up gaining. I weighed in this morning at 143. But today is a new day, a rainy day, but new none the less. Time to get serious.

That whole special K diet thing seems like a bad idea. It's not that Special K is all that great, I mean if you had only 2 bowls of anything, say Froot Loops, you'd lose weight because you are eating practicly nothing.

I weighed in at 202 on Friday, and 204 yesterday. I'm just about at my goal, but I keep stumbling on these last few pounds. Realistically, I am at my target, but I just once want to see the sacle register 200 or less.

Well, you've accomplished a lot! But i understand what you mean about the last few pounds... those are the most stubborn, but somehow become the most satisfying

Keep up the good work!

I agree with ya Coaster the last pounds are the hardest, past month has been rough, but hopefully I can get below 200lbs in the next couple of weeks..

14st 3lbs. Well that's four pounds down on last week. Which makes up for not losing anything the week before. I don't think that I have weighed this little since I was 15 years old.

Back down to 202 today, down from a mid-week high of 205. This week for sure I'll get into the 190's. Although I'm going to a poker night tonight, and that means pizza and beer. I could abstain, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Hey all... weigh in.

Still 134 pounds (height: 5'5").
I'm at a plateau, it's happened before... so i just gotta keep at it and not get discouraged Although i haven't lost any weight yet these past two weeks, i can certainly see a lot more tone on my ass and thighs... so not all is lost

Kicked it up another notch, started a raw veggies, salmon and one 'yummy' food a day diet yesterday... it's going well and it's actually quite tasty. I hope to be posting some good loss results next week

I lost 11lbs my 1st week of dieting, a lot of that was water weight, just keep in mind that your weight can fluctuate, I've seen a 3 lbs swing from one day to the next. I weigh myself on 2 consecutive days (at the same time each day) just to be sure that the reading is accurate.. I may be way off but seems to work for me.
