Strange theories of mine.
Alright I have these 2 theories that i've been thinking about for a while. I'm wondering if you guys have heard anything to support them, or at least think they make sense.
1. Chewing your food more helps you lose weight. Not only would you be burning more calories while you eat, but it seems like it would make it easier for you body to break down the food therefore giving you more nutrition. Sorry if this next one is vulgar. 2. Looking at a lot of porn, but not masturbating may help men develop more muscle. This one seems a little more far fetched then my other one but if i'm not mistaken, many steroids use testosterone and i think a male produces more testosterone while looking at porn. But men also use it to make man juice. If you cut out the need to keep creating man juice but keep producing testosterone, its like a natural steroid. I may be full of bullshit on all this, but I may also be on to something. You decide. |

They say that chewing your food 30 times is better for your digestive system. Not to sure of any other advantages there.
And your second one... don't think that has any application IMO. The idea of using STERIODS is to INCREASE the amount of NATURAL testosterone in your body. If you could simple do this by watching alot of porn and not jerking off... I think there would be alot more "roidy" looking fellows out there. The best way to produce testosertone naturally I think is to simply workout. This is all a simple reply based on my opinion of course... bare that in mind. :P But I don't think there is much scientific evidence backing your second notion at least. Hell apply for a grant and research it! Hahah. Cheers.

The amount of calories you burn chewing food is negligible, but ChasingAmy is right, it's really better for you to do it.. So they say..
It's kind of like taking a cold shower- you burn a few more calories trying to keep warm, but the difference is negligible- especially considering the cardio you just did that night (okay, maybe not)..

The longer you take to chew and swallow your food, the less you're likely to eat. A lot of people, especially here in the states, tend to bolt their food. Feelings of fullness take a while to register, so by the time you realize that you've had enough to eat, you've already eaten more. By eating more slowly and pausing, you give your body time to signal that it's full before you make the decision to eat more.
I once read an anecdote by a psychiatrist that I've never forgotten. He was given a two-year fellowship at a prestigious institue of psychology in Switzerland in which the academic staff all went out for a two-hour lunch together every day. He assumed that they'd be talking shop, but on his first visit he found out that all they talked about was food. They were gourmets and went to good restaurants for multiple-course lunches, and endlessly discussed each morsel that they ate and took the time to appreciate the flavor of everything before they ate. He learned to do the same and after two years of such lunches, he'd come to appreciate food as he never had before -- and lost 20 pounds. |

^ Interesting... Though I wonder if talking to yourself counts?
And if you want my theory on food, I reckon that if you want to lose weight, then: Girls, stop eating sweet stuff, and guys, stop eating salty stuff. Failing that, everyone just eat Chinese. There must be a reason why they're all thin.

If you chew your food then you are bound to eat less, as it takes you longer to eat and therefore your brain will tell you you're full when you really are full. Unlike when you gulp the food down by the time the first mouthful hits the stomach you're already done and on dessert, that can't be good.

interesting theories, but i reckon that you have do a lot of real hard work to get any worthwhile results.
but I did read recently that fidgety people use quite a lot more calories than non-fidgety people.

Which reminds me of an experiment done by some people. They had both men and women; fidgeters or not monitored for a few weeks (or maybe months). The first phase was just eating normally, but once they upped the calorie count, the non-fidgeters gained weight, while the fidgeters remained the same. Apparently something to do with an unconscious decision remain the same weight.

One thing you might want to think about instead of chewing food more to lose weight, drink lots of water while eating.
This does two things, first starch (breads) expand when in contact with water in your stomach. And two, helps fill your stomach faster with water than just plain food. So it's a double hit. When I eat I drink about 2-3 glasses of water (unless I'm at a buffet, I get my money's worth there), there's a noticable difference when I drink lots of water than just eating and sipping. |

I couldn't last very long looking at porn all the time but not masturbating. I think if you just had sex instead you would gain more muscle.

As for porn helping you gain muscle.... In the past I've sometimes helped myself make that one last rep in the weight room by imagining a hot babe leaning over the bench. Amazing how that image can bring on a little surge of energy. But you could probably get the same effect with a strong cup of coffee before the workout. It's nothing major.
