I want to move to France. Advice?

I want nothing more than to move to France and become a permanent resident. So far, I've only heard about temporary student and work visas. Could anyone point me in the right direction or give me some advice so I could get my foot in the door?

Details: I'm a college freshman who speaks enough french to survive easily. I know some people in Paris who are willing to give me a job as soon as my visas are in order. Money isn't an issue.

Thanks in advance.

Before jumping into moving there completely, look at spending a semester or two in france first.

Definitely spend some time there and see if you adjust to it well, can make your way around, and that you get along with people. If you've already done this, make sure you aren't doing it for any reason besides yourself. After that, you've already got a job, why the hell are you still here? Oh, and if you move, shouldn't you be going to school still? I would finish college...

I'd say definitely pursue the study abroad path before just jumping head-long into it. Then, while you are there, you can figure out what it would take to relocate.

Contact the French Embassy for the right papers and the different visas available to you.

I don't know how much French you know, but definately learn how to say "I surrender" in the native tongue.

I really do want to go to France myself, but not to live, to visit. My best advice would be to go there for a few months and then decide if you would want to live there or not. Good luck.
