when my dog died...i guess im lucky thats the saddest thing thats happened to me

I'm not sure about saddest, but the toughest thing I ever had to do was tell my then 13 & 14 year old daughters that their dad had cancer and that it was serious. Talking to my parents about it wasn't much better.
