My new dog....

I saw a thread on here just recently that someone had bought a new pet and posted their pictures of the animal on here. I am going to do the same thing.

I just recently bought an Alaskan Malamute and named him Logan.

I adopted him from the Humane Society. Vet clinic said he is about 1.5-2 yrs old, so, still a puppy I guess. Adult maybe already, but they said he can still grow. I went looking at some pet shops, and they wanted hundreds of dollars for pets, and I just all around thought it better to adopt then have him put to sleep.

I just picked him up from the vet yesterday, so I don't know really what he's like yet. He seems to know that his business needs to be done outside. He laid at the end of my bed last night and was ready to go out when I woke up. I took him outside, he did his duty, ran around some and was curled up next to the porch when I was ready to leave.

Great looking dog. I'm sure he is happy he has a real home with someone who loves him. I've adpoted/rescued all my dogs and really think that it creates a bond with them. Good luck with him and treat him well! He deserves it.

Shedding is an understatement -- Huskies do more than shed.... I'm sure malamutes do the same thing :)

Logan is a beauty - -what amazing eyes he has...

Good luck with him and have fun with him too :D

bendsley 02-12-2005 04:55 AM

Maleficent: Apparently from what I've read, they shed their full coat twice a year which one site said would be equivilent to several grocery bags of hair each time. Thank goodness for backyards.

Absolutely gorgeous dog! Thank you so much for sharing such gorgeous pictures of Logan. I have been a lover of Malamutes since I was little. :) I hope you both bring a lot of happiness and fond memories to eachother.

Awsome dog..I love husky's, They look like wolfs.

My Aunt had a husky and he had one brown eye and one ice blue eye, Was kinda freaky but cool at the same time.

My uncle had one also and it chewed through his wall one day when he was at work, They are definitly outside dogs.

Great Dog man.

degrawj 02-12-2005 11:40 AM

cyrnel 02-12-2005 11:58 AM

Beautiful dog, Bendsley!

Cervantes 02-12-2005 12:01 PM

Wow. He's a beautifull dog. Kind of wolfish.

His eys are so intense.
Nice fur aswell. How big do they get? (Compared ot a german shepherd.)

IC3 02-12-2005 12:12 PM

They can get pretty big..I'm not sure how many different types of Husky's thier are, But i think the one my uncle had was an alaskin malamute..If he stood up on his hind legs, he stood over 6ft.

Speaking as owner of a part-Chow, my advice is: buy a good vacuum cleaner. He won't be staying outside 24/7 during coat-blowing season. Also, make friends with a groomer. Cooper visits the groomer (who she LOVES!!!!) twice a year to get her coat combed out and her ears trimmed.

Gorgeous dog, btw!

I was thinking the same thing but you not only have to buy the vacuum cleaner...you must use it frequently!!! :D You should also get a high quality hepa rater filter for your furnace / ventilation.

Nice doggie choice too...he's a beauty!
