Yay! I don't do any of those things!
I go to the Y. I like it there, and I really like how they conduct business. I cancelled my membership a few months back before restarting, and without any prompting, the person handling my stuff saw that I hadn't been in for about a month and a half. She made sure they sent me a check for two months of fees. That alone made me loyal. But yeah, every machine has they spraybottle and towel, so its actually rare that you dont see someone wipe down whatever they were using. Every now and then you get some seventeen year old who thinks he's better than the system, but usually they only do freeweights, which doesn't bother me as much. What does bother me is when seventeen year olds come in groups of five or more, and crowrd around one machine that only one of them are using. Nobody can use the ones beside them, becuase theyre sitting on them, chatting it up. The gym is not a social place. I like to go with one friend, we keep each other motivated and on track, and we can spot each other. But if youre going to hang out, the conditioning level of the YMCA is not the place to do it. As for the notebook, I'm not sure I've seen anyone bring one to the Y, but when I think about it, its a really good idea. It would keep you a lot more focussed than I am. "Uhm... I feel like doing something with uh... triceps, yeah. Ooh, that machine looks good." |

"I work in a health club as a personal trainer, so I hate all of you disgusting members."
That was my favorite post so far.. I haven't been a member of a gym in a while, but the sweat thing is the worst I can think of. It's really not that hard, just wipe the damn bench with your towel. Obviously that doesn't cleanse and disinfect, but I just don't want the "puddle of sweat" experience. |
