dried out skin

Man the skin on my face is so dang dried out! Like after i shower and dry off its all like peely and my face feels tight as crap! I've been putting Vaseline intesive care lotion on it thats my only saving grace! it makes the peeliness go away temporarily but it makes my face all shiny!

I was using some acne treating medicine my doctor prescribed but this only started happening since football season where i wore my helmet all the time, like before football it never happened and now after football it just wont go away! I think it might have something to do with no moisture in the air or something but i dont know!

Plz dont say use lotion because i have been using lotion it just doesnt help! Any advice greatly appreciated

Aloe Vera....while your skin is still wet.....for one week.

Is there anything in the football helmet that you might be allergic to? Depending on what acne medication you are using/taking, it might be making your skin more sensitive.

Aloe Vera is a good idea because if it's a rash type thing, it will help with that... Otherwise what about a benedryl cream...

no because its happened before football like way before but it went away then came back, i think it had something to do with the sweat. and i havent put a helmet on in a few months and its still here!

sounds like you took acutane. dry skin is a side effect.

dry skin is a side effect of almost any acne cream or medication.

Different lotions work for different people. Try some aquaphor, it's more oil based instead of the water based lotions. Put it on before you go to bed, but not right before else you might just end up with a grease stain on your pillow.

What are you washing your face with? My brother uses cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer (as directed by his dermatologist) and it seems to help. You may wish to use a soft wash cloth when washing your face with a mild cleanser to help exfoliate. Don't overdo it with the exfoliation either; red raw skin isn't better than dry skin.

I use Clinique, Dramatically Different Moisturizer after every time I wash my face. My skin is perfectly moisturized. :)

Everyone has avoided the obvious solution.

DRINK MORE WATER!

Drink more water and use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. It's gentle and moisturizing, and you can get a lot of it for a decent price (it's pricey for drugstore stuff). My friend is undergoing Accutane treatments right now, and that was the dermatologist's recommendation.

Also, get a washcloth wet, squirt a bit of Cetaphil cleanser on to it, and use the washcloth to wash your face GENTLY, moving the cloth in small circles. Only do this once a day. This will help exfoliate your skin and get rid of any dry flakes, allowing the moisture cream to get into your skin more easily. Also put the cream on within THREE minutes of washing your face--onto a still-wet face. This will help seal in the moisture. At night, put on an extra layer of cream and let it soak into your face. That should help as well.

ALSO: Don't use super-hot water to wash your face. Use lukewarm water. :) Hope that helps.

Vaseline intensive care is watered down moisturizer. Try any mild unscented lotion & mix a little vitamin E oil into it. You wanna give your skin a good waterproof coating to slow evaporation. Drink lots of water. Make sure your bedroom is decently humidified. Throw a glass bowl of water over the register to moisten the air. Get enough sleep. Stress is hard on your skin.

I use this calendula extract stuff. It seriously works wonders for my dry skin.

Agree. Water is the first step. However, it may be more than that. Water is good for curing many ailments, but not everything. Some skin problems are more than water related. It does sound like the sweat in your helmet or possible bacteria in your helmet. Does anyone else have the problem on your team? Ask around.

thanks for all the advice! I've been gently cleaning my face with warm water and a cloth trying to exfoliate, afterwords i put Aloe on and i've been drinking as much water as i can (I usually drink a lot anyways, habit from football) and i've been seeing improvements thanks everyone.
