Fetus theft? WITF?
This is sick to the nth degree, but at the same time surreal. I'm having a tough time coming to grips with the idea that anyone could do this.
Makes me think of season 1 Millenium episodes. What in the hell is going on? Would someone please tell me this kind of thing has always happened, that this is just our instant gratification news distribution in action? Damn, this brings tears to my eyes. ------ "Search On for Fetus Cut From Mom's Womb Friday, December 17, 2004 SKIDMORE, Mo. — Police were trying to find an infant they believe could still be alive after being cut from the womb of its mother, slain in her northwest Missouri home Thursday afternoon. The Nodaway County Sheriff's Department issued an Amber Alert (search) about 12:30 a.m. for the child, believed to be female. The alert said police were looking for a suspect who may have blond hair who possibly was driving a red vehicle. The sheriff's department said officials did not know if the person they were looking for was a man or woman. "I believe there is a live 8-month-old fetus out there we need to find," Sheriff Bill Espey said. The child's mother, Bobbi Jo Stinnett, 23, was eight months pregnant. Her mother found her inside her home and called police at 3:38 p.m. Paramedics tried to revive the young woman, who was pronouced dead later at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. "Someone was wanting a baby awful bad," Espey said. ..." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,141836,00.html |

The reason they believe the suspect to have blonde hair is because the dead woman's body had blonde hair in her hands, as if she had been ripping it out of somebody's head. I'd like to see if the DNA test on the hair shows that it's a family member of hers.
I'd also like to see if the husband paid somebody to do it. |

In the same, disturbing vein:
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A Mexican man killed his lover in a drunken, drugged fight then cooked the man's body in tomato and onion sauce and ate it over three days. Police found Gumaro de Dios Arias grilling rotting human flesh for his breakfast, including part of a heart, when they raided a shack he lived in near the Caribbean beach resort of Playa del Carmen, a police chief said on Wednesday. "He was preparing stews. There was a grill where he was cooking part of the heart and bits he had cut off the body. It was terrible, terrible," said local police chief Martin Estrada, who was among a dozen police who raided the shack. Arias told police the victim, a young man, arrived at his cardboard hut in a wasteland area with a mutual friend who then left the two of them drinking and taking drugs. The pair had sex and afterward a fight broke out during which he killed the man with blows to the head, police said. Police arrested Arias, 25, on Tuesday after a tip off. "They said there was a person eating a person," Estrada said. "We found him lying on a folding bed and to one side was the corpse which had been torn apart and which it seems he had been eating for three days," he told Reuters. The corpse, which had its back ripped open and its innards pulled out, was missing various parts, like a thigh, he said. Maybe with a Chianti and some Farva beans? |

I just read the authorities believe that they have recovered the infant, and the doctors believe that she should be okay. What is wrong is how long it took for the Amber Alert to be issued. Something about not having the weight, eye color, proper description, etc. Now, that is screwy. Red tape be damned, the Amber Alert should have been issued immediately..........not 9 hours later.

After some sleep and time to rationalize... It is a small community. There are probably all kinds of important details unknown and untold. Huge family feud, inbreeding, etc. Still, it just makes me shake my head in disbelief that someone could get it in their heart to go through with this. Argh.

They just caught the woman who did it. Well they think she did it; she confessed to strangling the victem, and was showing the baby off to others in her town as her own. Needless to say, she looks craaazy. They caught her by tracking her email or something, but I dont know the full story yet. Normally i'm numb/indifferent to this kind of thing, but this really disturbs me.

They caught her through the terrier message board/chat room she was in. Local authorities got a tip from another poster from that board in N. Carolina. The got her address through the ISP.
That's also how she got in touch with the victim. The victim had pics of herself up on the boards, so Ms. Crazy-lady (who had a misscarriage and was still telling her family she was pregnant) knew she was pregnant. She contacted the victim, saying she wanted to buy a terrier. They agreed to meet at the victims house....which they did :/ Story from CNN.com: http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/12/19/mi...tus/index.html

Having known people who have both had mis-carriages and lost babies shortly after birth I don't think the insanity plea is hard to prove. For my friends loosing a baby was by far the most tramatic thing that has ever happened to them. Granted, they didn't go kill a lady and carve her up to steal her child but one girl was damn near catatonic (sp?) for almost a month. tried to google for number of miscarriages last year and came up short but it can't be unreasonable for one or two every couple of years to completely flip out.
