1 Hardee's burger. 1,420 calories.

I'm not sure which is more ridiculous. That Hardee's would sell this or that people would willingly eat it.

Thats a big burger.
Does Giant Hamburger approve?

Seaver 12-09-2004 10:33 AM

mmm... suddenly I'm craving Hardees

braisler 12-09-2004 10:36 AM

WOW, that does look pretty good. But it is more calories than many people should eat in a single day. Most women and men under say 160 pounds with an average metabolism would be done for the day with just 1 burger! Yikes.

Pair it with a jumbo coke and large fries! Then you've got guaranteed fatness.

gh0ti 12-09-2004 10:37 AM

Ok, I love food. I love hamburgers. I love big hamburgers. But yeesh 1,420 calories??? I think you might have to be really stoned to actually order one of these..

Locobot 12-09-2004 10:39 AM

Blech, I love burgers but that looks disgusting. I had a Hardee's burger two weeks ago and it was downright nasty.

alpo 12-09-2004 11:46 AM

mmm...Bacon.

That's probably more calories than some people in Africa eat in a week.

Strange Famous 12-09-2004 11:50 AM

yo, thats a bad boy right there!

Rdr4evr 12-09-2004 11:54 AM

Does that come with a side of heart attack?

Bobaphat 12-09-2004 11:56 AM

Everything in moderation. Just don't eat one every day for lunch. It does look pretty tasty though

Cowman 12-09-2004 12:34 PM

More like just don't ever eat one.

vox_rox 12-09-2004 12:49 PM

I read about this a couple weeks ago, then heard a report on the radio. Man, all I can say is What's The Point?!

I've also seen a lot of commercials lately about food being big enough to make you feel full, as if jus thaving a meal is no longer enough.

Food portion sizes have doubled in North America over the past couple of decades, led by such things as 7-11'a Super Big Gulp (why drink only 1 litre of pop when you can drink two for only 2 cents more?!), and McDonald's Super "Value" meal (which means the regular size isn't a value, go figure), and I could go on.

No wonder the U.S. boasts the highest per capita number of overweight and physcially unfit persons in the entire world.

I'm not saying everyone should just eat salads, but by saying that this monstrosity is okay "in moderation" is like saying the occasional snort of coke is a moderate choice, or a trip down your interstate ocassionally at 150 mph is using the gas pedal moderately.

Living large is just a figure of speech, not to betaken literally.

Take it down a notch, resist the urge to be a gluttonous mound of consumption and think about yourself and your society.

Peace,

Pierre

Looks good but who could stomach it? I love beef but not that much. I heard that burger wasn't that tasty anyway. Too much meat. Good only on rare occasion. Definitely not a daily lunch I hope.

skinnymofo 12-11-2004 05:53 PM

ive never heard of hardees but that burger kind of reminds me of the bacon ultimate cheeseburger from jack in the box and that burger requires lots of sauce as lubrication to swallow and bacon for flavor otherwise its just too much beef patty.

SunScar 12-11-2004 06:10 PM

That's friggin crazy... Shouldn't there be a law against having something that fat?

ryfo 12-11-2004 09:25 PM

never seen one that big???? maybe its a family meal deal???

Painted 12-12-2004 02:53 AM

Cut that mother in quarters, enough to feed your family for a night.

No, because "fat" in itself isn't a problem. Excess calories and saturated fats are a problem.

dman2 12-12-2004 11:12 AM

Definitely a meal deal for the whole family. Wouldn't want to eat if for left overs, that's for sure.

hokiesandwich 12-12-2004 02:16 PM

Calories, fat, blah blah blah. Has anyone seen the woman riding the bull and eating that thing?

She's making girlfriends everywhere very angry, and I'd say the resulting calories expended trying to make it up to "pookie" deserves a burger!

sandinista 12-12-2004 02:19 PM

hokiesandwich: please post that picture. And get me one of those burgers.

hokiesandwich 12-12-2004 03:56 PM

Here's the whole commercial. The name of the woman escapes me right now, not that I knew it before, either.

those with girlfriends are warned!!

I dont' want to turn this into a sexual post...I hope that isn't the case.

CAMERON RICHARDSON is her name. No more from me on this subject.

SiNai 12-12-2004 06:37 PM

Yum. Seriously, Yum. You won't ever catch me eating one of those, but it looks pretty yummy (minus the mayo).

1slOwCD8 12-12-2004 06:44 PM

Maybe ill scrape off the mayo, or take off a piece of bacon. That should save some calories.Does anyone know the daily average for calorie consumption? I wonder how big it is, it doesnt really look any bigger than a double quarter pounder to me.

hokiesandwich 12-12-2004 07:15 PM

:hmm:

Daily average calorie consumption in the Western world (modern, industrial nations like USA, Germany, Canada, etc.) is somewhere around 3,500 calories.

In the rest of the world (I believe this includes the entire globe, but if not, it is everywhere but Europe, Australia, Japan, N. America) where the majority of the world's population lives, average calorie consumption is ~2,100 calories/day. It's safe to say that in places like sub-Saharan Africa, average calorie consumption is well below 2,100 calories. They get a majority of their calories from cassava, other tubers, and legumes.

The average daily calorie requirement for a human who isn't doing any strenuous work is 2,000 calories. There is a lot of variation on actual numbers, as people of different activity levels, health levels, and body types will require more calories or fewer calories.

Basically, we should box up a bunch of these burgers and send 'em over to where people need them.

These things shouldn't become anything close to a regular item on anyone's menu, they're pretty fat-dense. PS, fat has 9 calories per gram, carbohydrates and protein 4 calories per gram, and alcohol, 7 calories per gram.

OH, and when you "french-fry" potatoes, you leach out valuable vitamin A, (and a couple other vitamins) as well as load them up with trans-fats (though this depends on the trans-fats present in the oil) which are strongly suspected of depositing in coronary arteries.

Okay, I digressed.

Just don't eat the damn burgers. Americans get more than enough protein and calories, but not enough veggies and fiber.

Here's to your health,

Hokiesandwich

godxzilla 12-13-2004 11:48 AM

that is a disgusting looking burger. I dont know who could actually put something like that inside them! honestly! Im no vegetarian, I love a good burger...but that is just sick

Gabbyness 12-13-2004 03:58 PM

That's totally kick-ass.

thingstodo 12-13-2004 05:08 PM

I think the point was more for free publicity than anything. Look at all the talk they have earned for nothing more than making up a double burger. Who cares if they sell a single burger!

sandinista 12-13-2004 08:45 PM

That burger, along with that commercial, is molestation, in sandwich form. God bless them.

astrahl 12-14-2004 01:30 PM

Eh...
One of these days, Hardees or some other chain is just going to put a whole cow between two pieces of bread. Meat and cheese in one.

HAH reminds me of an Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode. Shake forcefed a cow Ranch Dressing and Pork until it died, injected American and Swiss Cheese into it's carcas, and flash fried the entire cow.

God that was a great episode.

godxzilla 12-14-2004 02:47 PM

reminds me of denis leary :)

ShaniFaye 12-14-2004 03:01 PM

I plan on having one for dinner tonite

mikeylips 12-16-2004 12:12 AM

It's amazing that although I know that burger is in no way good for me, in fact it could probably mess me up pretty good...I want it so baaaad.

ShaniFaye 12-16-2004 03:59 AM

I had one....well part of one.....I didnt find that it tasted all that good...and there was NO way in hell I could have finished eating all of it....ever

gh0ti 12-16-2004 08:25 AM

Apparently they are not stopping with the 1420 calorie think burger:
