Collitis - Diet?
I've recently been diagnosed with the colon disorder Collitis. I've had to cut out almost all dairy from my diet as it's one of the key triggers for me, and I'm starting to get concerned about vitamin deficincies and other complications that may arise from this. If anyone can offer any advice, aside from the obvious "take calcium pills" I'ld appreciate it.. it's been an ordeal trying to get my diet in line and hold on to my sense of normalcy, and while it has been suggested to me that I go macrobiotic I just don't think I can do it (I love fish and chicken, and bread too for that matter).
If anyone has a personal story to relate or diet tips, I'ld really appreciate it. Thanks. |

I have the less severe version of Collitis called IBS. I also have reactions to dairy products and found that there are dairy supplements which people who are lactose intollerant take which also work for these symptoms. I would give it a try. It doesn't work for a heavy intake of dairy but if you want a bowl of cereal or a sandwich with cheese, it helps. At least it did for me.

I've come around on the whole soy thing, needing the protein, but it did take a while before I found a brand of soymilk I actually enjoy. Still doesn't taste the same in my latte tho..
I'll look into the lactose digestion aids next time I'm dying for some pizza, thanks for the tip. |
