Are there any gimmicks involved opening an account with this company? Any Disadvantages or will they take money out from my checking account? I dont mind having an extra savings account.

I got a refferal from a friend that says they will give free $25 Bonus for free and is not required to place any money to open it up?

They are giving 3% APY.

I think I've stumbled on something better than any of the above if you actively want to grow your money. Oh, and referring friends who enroll, I get an initial US$200 - 300 and then more later. And how about 40% ROI per month? I'm beginning to enjoy this!

No gimmicks. Open your account, fund it via EFT from your checking/savings account, earn 3%.

The post after yours is questionable since no details were given. ING is a bank offering savigns accounts, brokerage accounts, and loans, all regulated by the FDIC. Nothing funny going on here.

You can find similar deals. For example State Farm, the folks who do a lot of auto and home insurance, have their own "bank". I haven't checked in awhile but when ING was offering 2.x% State Farm was offering 1.5%.

Nothing funny going on here either. What would you like to know?

All I'm suggesting is that there are better ways of growing your money if you want to, as I have discovered for myself. I wouldn't consider something that only yields 3% if I know I can make 40% by basically doing what ING are doing with your money and then feeding you a pittance.

All totally transparent for those with access to the internet. How transparent is ING?

Hi jorgelito. Yes, it's taking me a while to get my head around everything I need to know, but for saying that I've only been looking at it for a couple of months, it looks better than anything I've seen before - and I've been in business a long time!

The basis of FOREX is extremely simple - you just have to know what you're doing. Those that get the right training can do well, otherwise I think it would be like going to Vegas.

Let me know if I can give you any more info. There's quite a lot of introductory info on the other thread.

Yesterday, I saw a license plate with the numbers 666. No biggie, right? Well, today I saw another license plate with the numbers 666. Ok, that's a little weird, but whatever. I just checked my ING account and found that the interest I earned this month was $6.66...

I just opened an account, it seems like a good place to stick my cash. 3% really seems to good to be true, I guess they found away to minimize their business expenses and give money back to the customers. good for them!

I'm not soliciting for anyone, but I wanted to throw out my personal experiences. I searched around for an online interest bearing checking account about 6 years ago and at the time, banks were paying very high rates (4-6% on average) and I found a bank that is actually a brick in mortar bank in MA (American Bank), who operates the online banking site pcbanker.com. When I signed up with them they were offering a 6.75% variable APY. It has fluctuated over the years, but as of right now, it is sitting at 3.0% when the national average today this week was 1.18%.

I've used this bank for the past 6 years. I've only had to physically call customer service 3 times in 6 years. At that, I probably didn't even need to do that, but I'm impatient and wanted an answer to some question immediately. When I did call, they answered the call personally and were very friendly.

This is an interest bearing CHECKING account mind you, not a savings account. I have my paycheck direct deposited to this account, and then I write 1 check out of it weekly to a local checking account my wife and I use to pay household expenses. I pay large bills and automatic drafts out of my online account and it works out quite well.

One of the coolest features this account has that I just can't be happier about is that they never charge me a fee to use another bank's ATM, and then they will actually REBATE me the fee the OTHER bank charges me - up to $6 worth of fees a month (* you have to carry at least a $1000 average balance for this feature though).

Anyway, for sailor who was originally looking into ING, I wanted to at least offer up first hand knowledge of an alternative. It isn't as an attractive APY as ING, but it isn't a savings account either. It is a checking account. I started using ING at the begining of the year and have just started sorting out my savings into different catagories online with them.

For a limited time, they are offering a 4.75% APY.

I'm pretty new to ING, but I think I can get you a $25 bonus for your new account. Pm me if you are interested.

I looked around for a while at the internet saving accounts. ING has been great. Their website looks more professional/ truthworthy than Emigrant, so ING it was.

EDIT: Clark Howard just started talking about these rates (not for the first time). He said that this rate beats inflation.

http://www.emigrantdirect.com/ is currently at 4.25 and was 3.75% when i started with it when ING was at 3.0% the only thing is that ING transfers money much more quickly than emmigrant.

hsbconline has 4.25% right now as well. as far as i can tell, emmigrant raises their rates faster than most of hte others, but i can't remember the top savings account offhand

Thanks for the info Spanxxx. I signed up for ING because the APY is better, and also because, for several reasons, I need to stick with my current checking accounts for checking. I just needed something better to use for savings.

ING is at 4% these days, and for any money that you deposit until April 15, it's 4.75%. I'm an ING user and I use it as my liquid go-between with investment accounts.

Just changed jobs that is going to be making me 100% more per year in salary so now I can afford to do some more investing towards my future, this savings account seems like a great place for some emergency cash and some money until it gets invested.

I just looked and I think they are offering 3.8 and 4.75 for all new deposits until April.
