Sam-e and medical marijuana
I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I'd be grateful if you could. I've been depressed for the last month or so, and have been using medical marijuana to deal with the symptoms when it got really bad (suicidal thoughts, etc.) I was recently prescribed Sam-e to deal with the depression. Could the marijuana interfere with the Sam-e in any way? I'm only asking because my psychiatrist told me that marijuana interferes with standard anti-depressants (in one case he saw, it even caused schizophrenia). Anyways, any help you guys could give me would be much appreciated.

Have you asked your doctor?
I'll never understand how people can ask questions about their health like this to a message board full of people who are most likely NOT their doctor. Ask your doctor! Don't screw with your health!

I did ask my psychiatrist. He didn't have any experience with it and felt uncomfortable answering without knowing for sure. I have yet to ask my actual doctor, but if I can't get an answer here I'll do that. My instinct would be that it doesn't interfere, seeing as Sam-e is just a synthetic reproduction of a naturally occuring chemical in the body. Still, I'd like to be sure.

But chances are, somebody here knows whether or not marijuana definitely interferes with Sam-e. Meh, I don't know whether I made a point or not. |
