Quick way to detect a brain tumor
Does anyone know the fastest way to find out of you have a brain tumor? I'm almost positive I have one, and it's imperative I find out by the end of next week. Is there any test I can just go in and take to find out? I don't want to sit around through a bunch of testing because I can't afford it.
Uh. Call your doctor, then he'll probably refer you to a neurologist, who then will probably run a series of tests and examinations on you. There is no self-examination to find a brain tumor, unless you have a huge fucking lump on your head.
Ok, I have to ask. How are you positive that you have a brain tumor?
I said I'm almost positive because I have the symptoms, and doctors have tested pretty much every other part of my body. I just want to figure it out for sure.
So youve been to a doctor already? And they tested every part of your body except your actual brain. :hmm: Since you were there why didnt you just ask him/her about the tumor.
How are you positive you have a brain tumor? I can promise you that in today's day and age in medicine, if you had any sort of localizing neurologic symptoms you would have already gotten a CT or MRI scan. Imaging is probably the best way to figure out if you have a tumor or not.

What are symptoms of a brain tumor?
You need to have some imaging done of your head such as a CAT scan or something. Symptoms mean nothing often with brain tumors.
yes, a CT or MRI of your brain is the only way to diagnose it. If your doc suspected I'm sure they would have already ordered one for you. If you are still concerned ask them about it...
I just don't get some of these questions!!
If you've already been to Dr.s and you could afford that, why not the next step? What did they tell you? What is the real cost if you don't pony up now? |
I've heard that standing up strait, and placing your hands at your sides, then closing your eyes for a few seconds and see if you can stay in that position for a bit is a Preliminary test to see if you might need more tests for a brain tumor, the normal person should be able to do it, but if you have a type of brain tumor then you get dizzy, and can't stay like that for long.
But don't take my advice, see someone! My grandpa died of a brain tumor the size of a grapefruit, and at the end, he couldn't even blink on his own. |
Brain tumors cause swelling and thus a "mass" effect on adjacent tissue. A good neurologic exam and history by a physician will reveal most abnormalities and if the need for more expensive imaging studies exists. I get the impression you feel you have a brain tumor because you don't feel well, and other problems you have thought of have been ruled out. I believe you would have already been to a doctor if you had obvious neurological deficits.
This forum is not the place to try and diagnose your own problems as the opinions may come from people who are doctors or from people with no medical backround whatsoever, so you don't know how much faith to put in them. If you feel something major is wrong, spend the money for an eval from your family doc. He will tell you if he thinks an expensive test is needed or not. Don't consign your health to a message board. |
Sure, I know how. Try to touch your elbows together behind your back. At least that's the way we use to tell the girls to do it back in hi school.

Why the end of the week deadline (I know it's passed, but just curious)
Hmm, his last post on this board was this thread, two weeks ago. Hope he's OK.
