forced body change?
So I have pretty much stayed the same weight ever since early highschool. I have always been between 185 and 192. I usually just sit around in the apartment and stare at the computer or something equivilent. I have started going out to the track and running 1-2 miles without stopping. My question is, will this eventually show or not? I feel that if I don't sit around gaining weight doing nothing, that I could only lose weight by running like this...
Fitness is so confusing to me :-)

if you don't do anything but sit around and play on the computer and are not gaining weight, then it means you (intentionally or not) do a good job of eating only the amount you need. if you ate more than you need, then you'd gain weight, and less then you'd lose.
the running should slowly start to show if you don't start eating more to compensate for what your burning during exercise (it's quite likely you may start eating more without even realizing it... the body hates to lose weight). congratulations on starting to exercise, keep it up! ![]()

How old are you? If you're still young you can sort of get away with eating poorly and not excercising as much because your metabolism is still pretty fast. It'll slow down as you get closer to your 30's and then you'll have to start paying more attention to excercise and your diet. Not to say that you should wait until you're older to start excersing, it's great to get a head start.
With that said, yes, if you've started running a couple of miles a few times a week you'll see some changes. Before you know it, you'll be able to run further and faster, your resting heart rate will go down (I think) because your heart'll be strong enough to send more blood through your body with every pump. You'll have more energy and will be able to burn more calories while you rest. |

I am 21 and I am drinking beer :-)
So I think I have actually strained my achilles tendon. My left leg down to my heel hurts and I get this weird sharp rolling feeling in my heel when I walk sometimes. Fantastic for running I am sure :-/
