I personally haven't done it myself, but I know people who have.

From what I understand, Cuba welcomes American tourists, and the immigration people know not to stamp American passports. I would recommend getting a Cuban contact first, someone whose phone number you can give immigration.

There are tours that leave from Canada and go to Cuba. Google for Canadian travel agents and you'll find some that sell Cuba packages. Like http://tripcentral.ca/
